Job Description SummaryReporting to the Senior Manager Global Transportation and Analytics, the Manager Global Transportation is responsible for hands-on management of international ocean, heavy air, intermodal, drayage and parcel freight activities with annual spend in excess of $200MM in support of regional logistics operations.

This will involve direct engagement with third party logistics partners, to ensure timely freight bookings are in place, to troubleshoot issues that may be creating delays and identifying cost effective solutions to optimize transit between international port pairs.Job DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIESEngage regularly with logistics providers and regional stakeholders as needed to track and trace shipment status, trouble shoot ocean and heavy air freight service challenges, and provide service solutions.Monitor progress on all ocean freight bookings, and engage with freight forwarders and direct ocean carriers to determine root cause for any delays, and to implement cost effective service solutions.Solicit spot quotes for ocean, heavy air, inter-modal and inland drayage freight to establish or modify lane pricing as needed, and aggregate results for inclusion within the global rate repository.In collaboration with regional operational stakeholders monitor logistic partner performance metrics against KPIs, established SOPs and service level agreements.Troubleshoot provider invoice rejections by working with providers, responsible BD shippers, and regional freight audit teams to determine root cause for reject so invoices can be resubmitted for processing.EXPERIENCE:Minimum six years relevant and recent hands-on experience managing day-to-day international ocean operational services with third party global logistics providers and ocean carriers.Must have working knowledge of SSL’s, ports, terminals and drayage services.Experience with identifying regional stakeholder and supplier ocean and heavy air freight transportation needs and implementing provider solutions.Proficiency in assessing stakeholder international freight scope requirements and performing spot quoting activities as needed to secure rates for ocean, heavy air, intermodal and inland drayage freight services.Experience managing in a diverse, highly matrixed, highly regulated, multi-cultural environment.Demonstrated knowledge of key supply chain/transportation processes & current best practices.Strong customer focus and a track record of delivering best in class service levelsPrior Medical Device/Pharmaceutical international transportation operations with understanding of regulations and GDP/GMP standards affecting medical devices (FDA Quality System Regs/ISO 13485), and cold chain distribution experience highly desired.COMPETENCIES:Ability to influence without authority across multiple functions in a highly matrixed global organizationHigh degree of stakeholder and customer focusDemonstrated ability to manage global transportation projects across regions in a diverse, highly matrixed, multi-cultural environment.Good communication and presentation skillsWorks well under pressure and meets deadlines with quality workTolerance for ambiguity and the ability to solve complex problems.Strong analytical skills and demonstrated financial acumen for logistics cost reporting and business case developmentSystem familiarity and skills desired:Advance skills in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Macro creation, Powerpoint, Visio, MS Project, Sharepoint)SAP ECC 6.0 and Business IntelligenceTMS systemsLogistics procurement toolsFreight audit toolsDashboard creation for KPIs, other metricsEDUCATION:Bachelor’s Degree is a must, preferably with a concentration in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Engineering.CERTIFICATIONS:Six Sigma, APICS, Project Management or related certifications desirableOTHER REQUIREMENTS:Position is based in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
