Opportunity Overview

TuSimple’s Safety Manager is a steward of comprehensive safety, who mitigates risk for the organization through proactive and corrective plans and actions.

They are responsible for guaranteeing the appropriate execution of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, auditing of EHS compliance, helping establish company EHS policy and standards, managing EHS jurisdictional requirements on governance and oversight, managing compliance negotiations with external EHS agencies, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the company has a well-designed, implemented and assured approach to EHS compliance and risk management.

The Safety Manager contributes to, and drives, a safety-first culture, and partners with internal business leaders to eliminate risks and hazards across operational activities.

They hold vast knowledge on applicable local and regional regulations and are adept at integrating that knowledge into TuSimple’s policies and procedures.
Role Responsibilities
Lead and document accident/incident investigations to determine root cause, prevention and corrective measures
Ensures a safe workplace through development, implementation and sustaining safety programs
Review and help implement all site and trade specific job hazard analysis.
Train and educate managers and leaders to lead and participate in site safety.
Audit project work practices and track findings to completion.

Use findings to evaluate trends and to provide data for continuous improvement.
Provide and ensure compliance with information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention
Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces
Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors • Ensuring proper security.
Assist with field work EHS-impacts oversight, participating in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work.

Preferred Skills and Experience
BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is or on-the-job experience
Valid qualification in occupational health and safety preferred
OSHA 30 (minimum), OSHA 500 preferred
CSP, CHST or other globally recognized accredited certification in EHS preferred
