Description:Job Title: Senior Manager, Quality Management (Van Nuys, CA)Job Code: SAS20212004-60000Job Location: Van Nuys, CAJob Description:Effectively manage the quality assurance team to ensure successful implementation and sustainment of L3Harris’ quality management system in support of the various production programs within the Electronic Systems business segment.
The quality manager will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 12 employees.
Effective collaboration with procurement, manufacturing engineering, design engineering and quality assurance is critical to the role.
This position reports to the Director of Quality.Drive advanced product quality planning throughout the product maturity cycleValue added participation and collaboration in kick-off reviews, technical and program reviewsApplication of root cause analysis, lean/six sigma methods and corrective actionsExceptional problem solving/avoidance capabilityBenchmarking and adapting industry best practices to drive state of the art quality management standard workCross-functional collaboration (operations, engineering and supply chain) to drive counterfeit parts avoidance and prevention, mistake and error proofing, and lean manufacturing initiativesEngaged in operating income initiatives, reducing operations costs and increasing efficiencyFailure Reporting and Corrective Action analysisISO/AS 9100 complianceEssential Functions:Apply AS 9100/ ISO 9001:2015 and other respective quality standards and ensure complianceApply L3Harris policies, procedures and standards that are relevant to the respective program and functional organizationsApply principles of quality science, and other qualitative & quantitative methods tocultivate and partner in driving performance to contract, quality, cost and schedule, customer satisfaction and continuous quality improvement throughout the program lifecycleCollaborate with various QMS elements and other support functions and customers to meet the various quality, cost, and schedule commitmentsResponsible for successfully leading and developing a team of high caliber quality professionalsEstablish, implement and enforce policy and standards for the quality of the business area’s products and services.
Coordinate the resolution of material quality issues to preclude adverse impact on Surveillance Solutions.Contribute and work with the Director of Operations, Quality, Engineering and Program Management in establishing the long and short-term business plans and objectives for the business area.
Ensure that those objectives are communicated effectively to subordinates.
Develop tactical plans and budgets for labor, resources and capacity necessary for function managed.Ensure that all departments involved in designing and producing goods are in compliance with quality and reliability requirements.Ensure product quality technology is an integral part of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
Ensure quality, engineering and manufacturing work in an APQP environment.Perform all of the usual and customary duties related to managing subordinate(s).Provide assistance, direction and technical guidance relative to quality issues involving Suppliers and Subcontractors, Manufacturing, Hardware and Software Engineering.Other related duties and special projects, as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Previous experience with Quality Engineering.Preferred Additional Skills:Experience with MRP supply & demand requirements.Space and defense industry experience is preferredStrong computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Outlook.Ability to work with limited supervision.
No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.Experience with government property inventory management would be beneficial.Good communicator, self-motivated, attention to detail.
