Jewish World Watch (JWW) is an expression of Judaism in action, bringing help and healing to survivors of mass atrocities around the globe and seeking to inspire people of all faiths and cultures to join the ongoing fight against genocide. JWW fulfills its mission through education, advocacy, and direct aid to partners on the ground, mitigating current atrocities and their ongoing aftermath by promoting sustainability and providing emergency resources.

Overview

The Marketing & Communications Director plays a critical role in developing and implementing communications strategies that support the mission and goals of Jewish World Watch. The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a proven track record of developing and executing successful campaigns and experience implementing a broad base media strategy. The Marketing & Communications Director will work closely with the Executive Director, senior staff and Communications Committee to develop and execute comprehensive communications plans that include digital and social media, media relations, branding and internal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans and targeted email campaigns
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and other key stakeholders throughout Southern California, the state of California and in other cities, states and countries where our work may have a direct impact on increasing coverage.
  • Work with Executive Director to draft and edit external communications
  • Manage the organizations social media presence, website and advocacy, including creating content and monitoring engagement and growing community (followers, subscribers)
  • Manage the organizations brand to promote events and content that raise awareness of JWW’s work that engages donors and supporters
  • Train and grow a speakers bureau.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, with a focus on non-profit organizations
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with media relations, including developing relationships with journalists and securing media coverage
  • Experience managing social media accounts and developing content for digital channels
  • Experience developing and executing successful email marketing campaigns
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Creative/innovative thinker
  • Collaborative
  • Ability to work on some of the world’s most pressing issues with hopeful urgency.

Salary and Benefits:

$70,000-$80,000

Salary and benefits for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Jewish World Watch offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, including major Jewish holidays, and other benefits.

Jewish World Watch requires its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to certain exemptions as required by law. New hires working at Jewish World Watch must be fully vaccinated upon hire.
