Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager (Level M) to join our BDS Engineering Strategy & Operations team. This leader is set to join the team located in the Puget Sound, WA area (Seattle, Renton, Everett, Auburn, Bellevue); Southern California (Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Long Beach, El Segundo) or the St. Louis, MO area (Berkeley, Hazelwood). This individual will lead the Playbook Commons project and Governance Board Team for Labs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that users understand the basics of how to create, lead and link data in Playbook Commons (PBC). Advise leadership of automation, improvements, compliance, Wiki Gardening, and tool reliability. Plan and help support Design Practices migration out of PBC.

  • Participate in Design Practices governance and integration. Co-lead a Design Practice (DP) team to improve integration across the DPs, within the DPs and integration in its entirety.

  • Lead critical Enterprise Electrical Lab Project to drive standard electrical lab test equipment process and tools for over 1150 labs across US. Maintain information repository, processes and guides for Lab Equipment in Playbook Commons. Ensures lab excellence metrics and standards maintains good standing.

  • Identify, track, grow and train enterprise Electrical Safety Assessor BDE’s. Conduct Quarterly Electrical Safety Assessor Boeing Designated Expert (BDE) meetings and follow on actions Collaborate with BT&E on the Boeing Enterprise Lab Database (BELD) upgrades and improvements.

  • Lead the Enterprise Governance Board Team for Lab project. Work with business and location focals to ensure electrical lab equipment compliance, consistent practices and communications. Conduct Monthly BDS Lab Focals meeting and follow on actions to include Lab Excellence (enterprise metrics).

  • Ensure 100% availability for Playbook Commons (Boeing’s Enterprise Wiki) with full compliance. Work with IT and ensure appropriate service support model with compliance documentation. Update tool configuration. Address user issues and work with other Boeing organizations to ensure compliance. Collect, prioritize and lead user feature requests and upgrades.

  • Lead regular Playbook Commons core team and user meetings for learning, teaching and to grow their content Wiki Gardening. Help users organize their data for effective reuse and easy search-find. Work with GTC, IP, Law Department to ensure compliance.        

  • Contribute to Systems Engineering Design Practices Discipline.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.

  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.

  • 5+ years of experience in leading or managing an engineering organization.

  • 5+ years of experience leading and implementing engineering workforce strategies and/or processes to meet organizational needs.

  • 5+ years of experience communicating, collaborating, and building consensus with internal and external stakeholders.

  • 5+ years of experience leading projects that require integration across business units and/or multiple functions.

  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.

Summary pay range: $178,500 – $258,750
