Tectum, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries has a job opportunity for a Plant Human Resource Manager to provide strategic and tactical HR leadership to our plant locations in Newark and Hebron OH.

This is a challenging, yet exciting opportunity to partner with the Plant Manager and site leadership team to ensure HR strategies and initiatives are tightly linked to the objectives and key challenges of the facility and the business.

The ideal candidate will build and maintain effective relationships with the unionized workforce and as a true generalist, will lead staffing, development, employee relations, labor relations, training, employee activities and compliance.

This position reports directly to the Senior, Human Resources Manager and has a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.

What you’ll be doing: Business Partnership Lead and direct plant HR activities to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Employee Culture.

Drive the execution of key HR initiatives and processes to enable continuous improvement in the areas of organization effectiveness, staffing, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits, employment practices and compliance.

Support organization change and continuous improvement efforts and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure successful change management approaches through effective planning and analysis, communication of change initiatives, full and active leadership support and employee involvement Develop and implement Human Resource strategies and techniques for improvement that provide support to the plant mission, critical issues and goals Track and analyze plant HR metrics to determine root cause and develop and execute action plans to address problem areas Employee & Labor Relations Administer the collective bargaining agreement, oversee grievance and arbitration processes and all aspects of labor relations activity Develop local employee and labor relations strategies Drive clear communication to all employees regarding change management in areas of programs and policies Engage in practical and rational employee relations including investigations, discipline, coaching and counseling to employees People Development: Drive the talent review process including succession planning for critical roles and development planning for high potential employees Support and develop effective performance management and employee development systems for the salaried and production workforce Develop and drive initiatives to foster employee engagement Actively demonstrate leadership in areas of employee safety and health.

Coach and develop plant leadership team members and front-line supervisors by providing HR guidance and input on operational plans and decisions and maintaining a forward looking staffing plan.

Hourly group leader cultural development What will make you successful: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field with 5 years of progressive human resources experience Proven knowledge of principles and processes related to recruitment, selection, training, compensation employee and labor relations, and HR information systems Strong knowledge of applicable employment and labor laws Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of the plant strategy Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people Strong communications and presentations skills Desired Qualifications: Experience in working in a unionized, manufacturing environment Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement methodologies MBA or MA/MS in applicable field of study PHR or SPHR certification Why should you join Tectum, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries?

About the location (Newark OH) Tectum, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc.

(AWI), is one of fifteen Armstrong plants in North America.

Our Tectum manufacturing plant employs many people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product.

With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.

This position is located in beautiful and historical Newark, Ohio, the county seat of Licking County, 40 miles northeast of Columbus.

We also have another location in nearby Hebron.

Licking County has lots to offer.
