General Manager

The Ryan Group is a prominent restaurant group that encompasses renowned establishments
in Los Angeles, including Hatchet Hall in Culver City and Townhouse in Venice Beach.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the
front-of-house operations of our newest venture in the vibrant Venice Beach area.

Joining The Ryan Group as the General Manager of this exciting new restaurant and bar
presents a unique opportunity to be part of a renowned restaurant group known for its
commitment to culinary excellence, exceptional service, and creating memorable experiences.

The General Manager will play a pivotal role in opening and managing this full-scale restaurant
and bar from the ground up.

Responsibilities:
● Onboarding: Oversee the hiring process, document handling, and the creation/documentation of employees in the payroll system, including termination procedures.

● Training: Develop comprehensive training packets tailored to each position, ensuring
efficient completion of training for new hires.

● POS Maintenance: Provide hands-on training to staff on all aspects of the point-of-sale
system, including reporting, troubleshooting, menu editing, and system functionality.

● Inventory Management: Oversee weekly and monthly inventory processes, tracking
usage, waste, and costs for specified items, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

● Payroll: Manage employee punch checks, tip entries into payroll sheets, and entries into
payroll programs. Train service managers on payroll processes.

● Property Management: Ensure smooth operations by overseeing maintenance,
cleanliness, and organization of the property, including adherence to health inspection
rules and regulations.

● HR Support: Oversee onboarding, training, hiring, employee development,
documentation, performance reviews, and adherence to location policies.

● Service Oversight: Manage scheduling, staffing, and open/mid/close duties, ensuring
exceptional service standards are upheld.

● Ordering: Coordinate weekly food and beverage, paper and plastic, catering/off-site
products, propane, FOH/BOH needs. Perform monthly ordering of glassware, silverware,
saucers, and other reusable items.

● Inventory Control: Monitor wine and spirits inventory on a weekly basis, ensuring
accurate tracking and efficient management.

● Events Management: Oversee the event coordinator, including the preset menu system,
booking process, pricing model, and steps of service.

● Goals and Expectations: Foster growth and development among property managers and
supervisors, establish daily planning routines, and set weekly/monthly goals.

● Payroll Compliance: Ensure adherence to no tip/MSC regulations, oversee time entries,
cash handling, and conduct regular audits of location pay systems.

● Standards Execution: Uphold and enforce service, expense, cleaning, staffing, and
company ethos standards.

Requirements:
● Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a General Manager.
● Clear understanding of California labor laws.
● Proficiency in Excel and basic POS operations.
● In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations and assigning roles & responsibilities.
● Ability to effectively manage managers and employees through proactive assistance and leadership.
● Excellent communication and leadership skills.
● Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining high service quality standards.
● Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.

The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience as a General Manager in the casual
fine dining industry and a track record of successfully opening restaurants.

You will work closely with the leadership team to foster growth, set goals, and ensure the
restaurant delivers outstanding service and upholds the company’s ethos.
