Executive Director, Strategy & Business Development

Cedars-Sinai is initiating a search for an Executive Director, Strategy & Business Development.

The successful candidate will serve as an advisor to the Vice President and the Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, making strategic and operational recommendations related to the health system, its management, and future direction.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the development of Cedars-Sinai’s strategic planning and business development processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates in Cedars-Sinai’s strategy development process providing leadership and support for the development and implementation of strategic plans for all of Cedars-Sinai including the Medical Center, our affiliates, and Medical Care Foundation. 

• Facilitates organization review and improvement of current strategies and developing new strategies to meet the mission of the health system.

• Integrates and coordinates business unit plans within overarching health system plans. 

• Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate operational and management problems, and to make timely decisions and actions to effectively resolve them.

• Leads the generation of business development plans and ideas for new ventures to support Cedars-Sinai’s mission and strategies and provides implementation support. 

• Responsible for generating, researching, exploring and implementing concrete business plans for the growth and expansion of Cedars-Sinai Health System, including its medical center, the academic programs, the medical network and affiliates.

• Conducts reviews of existing business units, divisions, departments and programs.

• Identifies new business development opportunities, values and appraises potential targets.

• Experience with ASC facility, Physician practice and Hospital transactions

• Background in structuring and negotiating a broad range of health care transactions and due diligence; represents Cedars-Sinai in the development of strategic business alliances. 

• Prepares briefing and discussion materials on recommended transactions and business plans for senior management discussions.

• Collaborates with other Cedars-Sinai executives in the decision-making process for new business plans and negotiate and finalize business relationships with other entities.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:

• The successful candidate must have senior level analytical, strategic, entrepreneurial and collaboration skills working in similarly large, diverse health care delivery systems or management consulting organizations

• Must have demonstrated progressively responsible leadership experience in large, diverse health care delivery systems or management consulting organizations.

• Able to lead teams and participate positively within a team environment.

• A Master’s Degree or a Ph.D.

in business administration, finance, health care, or health care administration.

• Broad knowledge and thorough understanding of the trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system.

• Client-facing strategy discipline at a major strategy, boutique strategy or Big 4 consulting firm in M&A Execution, specific healthcare M&A Execution a plus

• Experience in developing new enterprises and affiliations with health care delivery systems and effectively integrating services for optimum efficiency and quality outcomes. 

• Demonstrated people leadership skills in the selection, motivation, development, evaluation, recognition, and retention of competent and caring personnel.
