The Department of Cardiology, Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Director for the Division of Cardiac Intensive Care Medicine.

The Department of Cardiology is one of the largest departments within the Cedars Sinai Health System and has world renowned programs in advanced heart disease, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, women’s health, hypertension, cardiovascular imaging, and regenerative medicine.
The 12-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit receives over 1400 admissions annually featuring outstanding mortality metrics for its mix of critically ill patients that includes cardiogenic shock, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiac arrest and arrhythmias.
The CICU is staffed by 7 rotating faculty guiding a multidisciplinary team of medical students, interns, residents, nurse practitioners and cardiology fellows.
A collegial and well-resourced environment with cardiac ICU nurses, sonographers, perfusionists, and other expert staff, the CICU is the home for critically ill cardiac patients including those needing temporary mechanical circulatory support, therapeutic hypothermia, CRRT and invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
The CICU serves a diverse population from the greater Los Angeles community and is a regional, national and international referral center for advanced heart disease management, including the country’s premier heart transplant, cardiomyopathy, interventional, and structural intervention programs.
The successful academic candidate will have demonstrated clinical and academic leadership in cardiac critical care medicine with an established research program.
The Division Director will provide oversight and strategic direction for the clinical, academic, and research activities within the Division.
The candidate will be responsible for the planning and designing of clinical services and oversee and direct the provision and continuous quality and performance improvement within the CICU.
The successful director will be a collaborative academic leader able to work well with internal and external colleagues, including faculty, private attendings and affiliates across the Cedars Sinai Medical system.
They will support the Department of Cardiology and Cedars-Sinai Medical Centers academic mission by supervising education and mentoring students and postgraduate trainees from diverse backgrounds and managing faculty members academic performance and promotion within the Division of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine.
Graduate of a nationally accredited ACGME/AOA Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship with additional Critical Care Medicine training and experience.
BC in Cardiovascular Disease; BC/BE in Critical Care Medicine or strong track record in cardiac intensive care.
Eligible for an unrestricted California license as Physician
Academic Rank of Associate Professor or above
A track record of excellence in teaching, patient care and research in an environment that fosters diversity and inclusion.
Eligible for appointment to the appropriate academic rank in the CSMC Professorial Series
