Director, Strategic Pricing

We are hiring for a Director of Strategic Pricing for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) division to be based in our Sylmar, California office. This role will be responsible for developing pricing strategies across the CRM portfolio to support division revenue, market share, and margin goals; driving pricing-related process improvement and execution; and collaborating across the organization to influence change. This is an impactful, dynamic, and high visibility position that will materially impact the business. This position reports to the head of CRM Global Commercial Excellence.  

What You Will Do:

  • Develop value-based pricing strategies to support portfolio with emphasis on upcoming product launches, expansion of next generation products into key markets, and penetration of strategic accounts to profitably drive share capture
  • Introduce and pilot innovative pricing models, leveraging best practices and learnings from healthcare and other industries
  • Design and refine pricing policies and governance mechanisms to ensure effective execution and pricing discipline, including price uplifts and price exceptions
  • Conduct both retrospective and prospective performance analyses and reporting against key pricing/contract management performance indicators and metrics
  • Contribute to development of pricing playbooks, guidelines, and training
  • Partner closely with commercial leadership to create behavioral and mindset shift across the organization
  • Present regularly to executive leadership
  • Provide input on pricing and contracting systems and tools development
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Sales Training, Health Economics, Enterprise Accounts, Finance, R&D, GMI (Gross Margin Initiative), and other functions

What You Will Bring:

  • 15+ years business experience with 5+ years relevant to Pricing/Contract Management in medical devices industry
  • Excellent knowledge of pricing and contracting best-in class models, processes, techniques, and tools
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including ability to model revenue and margin impact of pricing and contract terms
  • Direct experience partnering closely with commercial teams at a medical device or healthcare company
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced, demanding, and changing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization, including presenting to senior management
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable
  • Ability to travel, approximately 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with IDN (integrated delivery networks) and GPO (group purchasing organizations) customers
  • 10+ years relevant to Pricing/Contract Management in medical devices or pharmaceuticals
  • 5+ years in management role with focus on pricing for a healthcare or Medical Device Company
