THE POSITION

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Public Programs, the Director of the SoCal Club is responsible for the daily management of all programmatic and operational aspects of the SoCal Club.

SoCal Club provides a safe space for young men of color ages 12-29, especially those who identify as gay, bisexual and transgender living in South Los Angeles. SoCal Club offers free health education and testing services, free fitness, voguing and yoga classes, support groups, counseling services, and hosts several social events each month.

SoCal Club facilitates access to primary health care, care coordination and behavioral health services through MHF s primary care clinic located next to SoCal Club.

The position requires some evening and weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Supervise a team of managers, supervisors and staff responsible for the day-to-day implementation/delivery of SoCal Club programs and services.
  • Work with MHF management and SoCal Club staff to identify and develop programs and services to be provided by MHF at the SoCal Club, or in partnership with other community partners.
  • Develop and implement program guidance, protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with MHF administrative, programmatic and service standards and applicable federal, state, county and other relevant laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Prepares utilization and programmatic reports to ensure service delivery goals are met, track specific outcomes, and monitor client satisfaction.
  • Assist in the development of proposals to sustain new and existing programs and services in collaboration with relevant MHF/SoCal Club team members.
  • Define programmatic, administrative and operational plans and strategies to advance SoCal Club s mission in collaboration with the organization s Executive Team.
  • Review, update and maintain MHF s program and service-related administrative and operational policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and championing long- and short-term innovations to improve practices and/or services.
  • Facilitating strategic, organizational and partnership planning with various constituencies and stakeholder groups.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, submission and management of SoCal Club budget(s) in coordination with the Senior Director of Public Programs, Chief Financial Officer and in compliance with applicable MHF, federal, state, and county and other governmental budgetary, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent MHF/SoCal Club with external partners including other service providers, public and private funders, as well as other governmental regulatory entities.
  • Serve as Site Manager and Building Emergency Coordinator to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, SoCal Club users/guests/visitors in coordination with MHF s Facilities Manager and other relevant members of the organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ten (10) years of management experience in any of the following areas: public sector (government/nonprofit), public health, behavioral health, and/or social/human services. Experience working with or serving African American (Black) and Latino communities is highly desired.
  • Demonstrable expertise in the areas of program budgeting, people management, and operations is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience managing and supervising a multidisciplinary staff.
  • Proven experience working with and leveraging resources from community partners to deliver community experience.
  • Experience managing a multi-use facility / community space (preferred).
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in the areas of community and population needs assessment; program planning, implementation and evaluation; strategic planning; building and maintaining partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
  • A master s degree in human/social services administration, public health, public administration or public policy is highly desired.

COMPANY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check
  • Must be able to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination on first day of work.

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Must take yearly flu shot or wear mask during flu season and test for tuberculosis annually as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
