Duties Summary

The Director of Security will be responsible for establishing strategic security objectives, creating operational plans and delivering programs and services that effectively mitigate the potential physical risks and threats to an international retail and dining destination and adjacent retail, office, & storage buildings.

The Director of Security will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all related daily functions of the all Company properties including the Original Farmers Market and adjoining Company assets.

Will oversee an integrated security operations center, requiring a high competency in security systems technology.

Shall establish a scope of services for the contract security company and oversee to ensure compliance.

The Director shall develop and initiate emergency training protocols for the properties for the Company staff and tenants.

Job success requires building and maintaining strong effective partnerships with Company executive management, adjacent property owners, and key community stakeholders including law enforcement, non-profit organizations and other community based groups.

Qualifications
BS degree in Business Administration or Management or Emergency Services Management and/or commensurate experience of 10+ years in security industry
Previous management in private sector security required.

Military, law enforcement and/or related government experience is a plus.
Experience in using technology to enhance security operations
Ability to evaluate complex issues and create workable solutions
Proficient in MS PowerPoint and Excel
ASIS certification (CPP, APP, PSP, PCI) is a plus
Investigative leadership and executive protection experience are a plus
Reports to

The Director of Security shall report to the Vice President of Property Management.

Limits of Authority

In consultation with the Vice President of Property Management, is authorized to procure the cost for services and products and analyze such, within approved guidelines, for the security operation of Company owned properties, but not enter into or execute agreements.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee the day-to-day security operations to ensure the safety of visitors, employees and property.
Develop, deliver, and maximize technology solutions and innovative programs supporting the Company’s security objectives.
Ensure ongoing Security Risk Assessments for all Gilmore properties and operations are completed according to requirements.

Identify gaps and risks and create action/mitigation plans as required.
Develop and implement emergency preparedness procedures, as well as training Company personnel to ensure optimal readiness in the event of any emergency such as earthquake, fire, active shooter events and civil unrest.
Develop and implement operations policies and guidelines to include overseeing the implementation of the Security Operation Center with contracted security officers including trained dispatchers.
Build and maintain effective external relationships with third party security contractors, key government partners, including law enforcement and private and public sector peer network groups.
Manage and report immediately to Company executive management security incidents and threats by overseeing and reporting on security checks, surveillance video and monitoring.
Maintain and review security records daily while reporting on trends, anomalies and concerns.
Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders.
Support, empower and mentor security teams by fostering a positive team environment dedicated to community safety.
When necessary, take the role as Incident Commander and liaison with local and federal law enforcement.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and be willing to accept assignments on an as-needed basis.

This may include some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Develop and implement security budgets for personnel deployment and equipment necessary to achieve security goals and objectives.
Coordinate/provide physical security risk management support at major Gilmore events.
