Director of Business Development

Job Description Director of Business Development International Conglomerate Technology/ eCommerce Position Summary This position is responsible for new business identification and joint business development with external partners primarily in North America and Company’s Business Unit in Japan.

Primary role is to identify perspective partners and/or new business models, develop partnership(s), and create businesses in Japan and Asia (e.g.

establishment of a local joint venture) in Digital Marketing and eCommerce solution sector.

Close collaboration with various counterparts at Company HQ in Japan is expected.

Cross cultural communication skill sets and adaptability to multiple business verticals are essential.

Client often directly invests in partners identified through the business development process.

This position should utilize our direct investments to develop local business opportunities in the Americas.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Establishes contact and develop relationships with prospective partners, develop/implement strategy and manage business development in Digital Marketing and eCommerce solution sector.

Develops overseas business with external partners, expatriates from Japan, and colleagues in Company HQ.

Creates a business that generates sustainable profits for Company’s ICT Business Unit.

Utilizes Company’s existing network of industry contacts to generate new businesses.

Exercises a broad “antenna function”, keeping abreast of the latest developments in the technology sector primarily the U.S.

and identifies business opportunities for the ICT Business Unit.

Leads communication with external partners especially in the initial stages of new engagements.

Requires superb interpersonal ability to foster constructive relationships with prospective partners by listening to and assessing their needs in order to add value.

Partnership management, stakeholder engagement, communications management and strategy implementation for areas of influence.

Evaluates potential prospects, their position in the industry and research and analyze partnering options and proposes successful partnership strategies to the General Manager for consideration.

Utilizes existing business to lead the development of new business and strategic expansion in the Americas, building traction rapidly, and delivering local solutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience [Essential] Partnership Development/consulting experience in Digital Marketing and eCommerce solution sector is preferred , with at least 5 years of overall experience.

[Essential] Results oriented, creative professional with demonstrated success developing and executing strategic plans with an ability to assess situations quickly, offer solutions and manage complex projects.

[Essential] Must possess leadership skills, collaboration skills and be a highly skilled communicator with demonstrated ability to quickly build relationships.

[Essential] Demonstrated ability to execute tasks and strategic and tactical business development planning.

[Essential] Intellectual curiosity with the ability to multi-task and manage relationships across multiple cultures and levels successfully.
