Director, Homeless Services

Schedule: Monday – Friday (8:30 am – 5:00pm) (24/7 on-call)

SUMMARY

SOLAR is a DHS funded Recuperative Care Interim Housing Program serving individuals experiencing homelessness that also have medical issues. The Project Director will ensure that medical and case management services are provided to our members along with the overall leadership of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the leadership and management of the project
  • Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients using a client-centered approach that includes motivational interviewing and harm reduction and Trauma Informed care
  • Work with the consulting M.D. and full-time N.P. to oversee the care/health of our members
  • Provide crisis intervention for clients when necessary
  • Ensure that the physical site is well-maintained and safe
  • Develop expert knowledge of documentation required by the agency and DHS, and oversee compliance with documentation standards, including electronic databases and paper charts
  • Ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures
  • Provide individual supervision, team meetings, and performance evaluations for assigned staff
  • Create a supportive environment and ensure clients’ progress towards permanent housing and psycho-social rehabilitation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, outreach teams and the community
  • Work with the Director of Interim Housing to develop and plan strategically for future programmatic needs
  • Ensure that the site provides robust enrichment programs for clients, which include yoga and mindfulness groups
  • Oversee the budget of the project
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of 2 years of equivalent experience in social services and/or interim housing setting.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues faced by population served
  • Experience in Interim Housing project management preferred
  • Medical experience not required
  • Committed to improving the community through empowerment and dignity
  • Skilled in non-violent crisis intervention
  • Ability to be on-call
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills to promote collaboration
