The Director, Enterprise Risk Management serves as a leader within the Enterprise department. The Director develops, oversees, and implements an organization-wide Enterprise risk management strategy that ensures the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks that could negatively impact the organization’s ability to achieve its objectives. The Director evaluates and oversees vendor risks, drives reporting, presentations, and education to executives and board members, and leads business continuity planning efforts.

Duties

Risk Strategy Development and Implementation:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive Enterprise risk management strategy aligned with the organization’s objectives.
  2. Establish policies, frameworks, and processes for identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating Enterprise risks.
  3. Regularly update Enterprise risk assessments and profiles, presenting findings to the executive team and board of directors.
  4. Oversee the management of ongoing issues, working with internal audit, legal, and Enterprise teams.

Business Continuity Planning (BCP):

  1. Lead the development and maintenance of the organization’s Enterprise risk management business continuity plan.
  2. Coordinate Enterprise risk management business impact analyses (BIAs).
  3. Ensure regular testing and updating of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  4. Provide training and guidance to departments on Enterprise risk management business continuity best practices.

Exceptions Management:

  1. Establish an exceptions management process for handling deviations from established policies.
  2. Review and evaluate Enterprise risk exceptions requests.
  3. Collaborate with business leaders to assess the potential impact of exceptions.
  4. Lead and oversee a comprehensive vendor risk management program.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

  1. Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and develop dashboards to monitor risk exposure.
  2. Prepare and present regular reports to executive leadership on risk status.
  3. Provide timely risk assessments and recommendations to senior leadership.

Team Leadership and Development:

  1. Manage staff, including monitoring performance, mentoring, and training.
  2. Collaborate cross-functionally with business units to embed risk management into decision-making.

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Business, Health Administration or Related Field. In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience

At least 7 years of experience in risk management, including business continuity planning and vendor risk management. At least 5 years of experience leading, supervising, and/or managing staff.
