The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Senior Project Director to be part of our Design Build Organization to lead multidiscipline teams in the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure design projects, nationwide. Responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects. Responsible for gross revenue of $30M+.
Primary Focus Will Include:
- Oversees 1-3 multi-disciplinary teams of designers to successfully deliver project plans, specifications, reports, and other design related materials.
- Interacts with contractor clients, executives, and owners to ensure design project performance is aligned with construction schedules and expectations.
- Interacts with 3rd party stakeholders to resolve issues on project approach, processes, and the design.
- Oversees project performance to ensure profitability, reporting and cash flow.
- Provides operational management of 1-3 design build projects concurrently with an aggregate design fee of $75-250M including budgeting, contracting, document control, contract, and change management.
- Mentor and develop leadership and engineering skills of project task leads.
- Travel 50% Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 25+ years of experience
- Professional Engineer license
- Responsible charge for profit/loss on a portfolio of design projects of at least $25M
- 20+ years of experience leading the civil design for major highway/interstate projects, airport, or transit projects
- Previous working relationships with construction contractors
- Requires excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills
- Requires ability to interface with clients as firm representative

What You’ll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
- Has full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including negotiating extras, cost control, staffing, quality control and cash management.
- Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.
- Estimates fees, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.
- Actively manages client s budget, schedule and program; HNTB budget and schedule; project communications and documentation.
- Satisfies client requirements.
- Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed.
- Responsible for managing and delivering quality mega projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
- Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.
- Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 16 years engineering experience, including directing large mega projects
