Contract Manager is responsible for managing, negotiating, and recording business contracts on behalf of Puma.

Duties include drafting and evaluating a contract’s terms for appropriateness for the proposed engagement, managing expiration timelines, requested amendments or extensions and being primary liaison with 3rd parties on behalf of Puma on contracting matters.

Contract Manager reports to Puma’s VP of Law.

Responsibilities for Contract Manager

Oversee and manage Puma contract templates and evaluate, negotiate, and execute a wide variety of contracts covering a range of transactions on behalf of Puma relating to the research, development, and commercialization of its prescription drug assets.
Develop internal resource guide on preferred contract terms and business rules for internal Puma stakeholders to follow when creating and negotiating contracts.
Manage and oversee contract database and related platforms to accurately maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress.
Create and maintain relationships with suppliers and serve as the singular point of initial contact for matters concerning contracts and serve as primary liaison during contract negation and related issues to internal and external stakeholders.
Liaison with outside counsel as needed to support contract language development and negotiation strategies.

Provide advice, guidance, and training to Puma teams relating to contract generation process, negotiation of terms and similar issues.
Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes.

Qualifications for Contract Manager

Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal terminology and rationale for contract terms and provisions.
Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills
Ability to productively manage diverse personalities and competing interests, priorities and goals
Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional team
Exemplify a strong attention to detail
Possesses superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office
Previous experience working with contract regulations and related laws is strongly preferred
Capable of professionally managing confidential information
Exemplify creative problem-solving abilities and a solutions-oriented approach to resolving issues and managing conflict

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s Degree or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job.
5-10 years’ experience with contract drafting, negotiation, and/or management.
5-10 years’ experience in finance.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.

to 5 p.m.

This position regularly requires long hours.
