Responsibilities: The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Communications Manager.
This position can be home-based.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible grant funded position.
Current funding is approximately through June 2025.
This manager will be responsible for for developing, planning and executing targeted media and communications strategies for an assigned AHA/ASA program or issue.
Responsible for acting as media and marketing representative for the assigned program or issue.
Essential Job Duties: Devises, plans, and implements communications strategy for assigned focus area (health promotions/conditions).
Plans may include media events, advertising campaigns, social media, opinion/editorial content, or other communications tactics.Acts as point of contact for multiple media outlets; includes researching, targeting and fostering relationships with media contacts and responding to media requests and public inquiries.Writes press releases, media advisories, blog posts, key messages, fact sheets and other content for targeted audience and issues.Prepares and executes media events and related media programs according to the communications plan.Collaborates with AHA/ASA departments as appropriate to assigned focus area to incorporate messaging into programs and initiatives across the organization.Identifies, trains and engages national volunteer experts for specialized messaging and media opportunities.Identify and manage vendors required to assist with communications plans (translation, public relations, media relations, promotions) to targeted audience.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent2 to 5 years work related experienceExperience in marketing, communications or media relations in a large organizationExperience developing and implementing focused marketing or communications campaignsProven ability to develop newsworthy ideas, write and pitch stories to media outletsDemonstrated success in creating marketing or media plansExcellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skillsProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) : The American Heart Association’s 2024 Goal: Every person deserves the opportunity for a full, healthy life.
