– Long Beach, CA Job Description Qualifications: The Boeing Company is looking for a Common Core System (CCS) Program Manager to join our team in Long Beach, CA.
The Boeing Common Core System (CCS) Program Manager is responsible for managing a multidiscipline engineering team that develops and manages requirements, system interfaces, performs functional analyses, performs system integration activities, develops verification/certification plans and leads all aspects of design, development, test and certification of newly developed avionics systems for civil and military aircraft.
Position Responsibilities:
- The leader manages employees to ensure the overall technical design and product quality for the development of the CCS System
- Responsible for the cost, technical and schedule baseline for the development program
- Develops and executes systems engineering, software engineering and hardware engineering products in support of the Boeing Avionics business and program plan, policies and procedures and develops organizational and technical strategies
- Acquires resources, provides technical management and leads process improvements
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
- Consistently manages, develops and motivates employees
- Responsible for managing, developing, and motivating approximately up to 220 engineers in systems, software, test and hardware development, focused on the design development and certification of the common core system
- Utilizes model based requirements development, decomposition and allocation with unit member support develop and track certification plan and allocate to various avionics products and software
- Facilitates cross-organizational staffing support
– frequent cross coordination with managers from other product teams at multiple sites will be required - Develops project or operational plans aligned to programs’ objectives
- Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved
- Assigns and designates authority and responsibility to employees to execute the plan
- Operates in close partnership with other engineering teams, project teams, Commercial Airplane Services ( CAS) team, and production operations
- Forecasts resource needs and obtain and manage personnel to meet project and daily operating requirements
- Reviews, approves and implements facility, equipment and service plans to maximize productivity and ensure safety, security, environmental and regulatory compliance
- Coordinates with providers to achieve timely delivery of resources
- Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements
- Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes
- Approves specifications, procedures, plans, and drawings for Avionics System Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT)
- Supports new business activities providing operations input and data to proposals based on actual costs incurred on past projects (costs that are expected to be tracked and managed)
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
- Prepares and presents regular status at program management and customer reviews
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S.
Security Clearance for which the U.S.
Government requires U.S.
Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S.
Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 5+ years of experience managing avionics-electronics, and/or software development
- 3+ years of experience as a senior manager
- Experience with program management, including scheduling and Cost Account Manager (CAM) Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience with system engineering, integration, and test for real-time embedded computing and networking systems
- Experience in managing requirements decomposition, and verification utilizing system engineering best practices
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in technical management of suppliers/vendors
- Experience in new business/proposal development
- Experience in first article production transition
- Experienced in both military and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certifications
- Experienced with network management and network security
- Experience with multiple Boeing platforms such as Boeing Military Aircraft (BMA) , vertical lift, military derivatives, and commercial air craft
- Experience in developing and deploying affordability capabilities and methods for both recurring and non-recurring cost reduction on commercial airline platforms
- Experience in integrating avionics and/or software onto a complex platform or system
