We have an exciting opportunity in the Los Angeles area for a technically-oriented Business Development Director to lead our strategic business development initiatives for Federal customers focusing on Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC).

The qualified candidate will have a proven record in SMC with demonstrated business development (BD) experience, a robust network of existing contacts in government and with commercial partners, a thorough knowledge of current SMC needs/challenges, strong presentation skills, and a detailed understanding of Government acquisition procedures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate how they can:
Expand/deepen strong, trusted relationships in SMC and with companies in the area to provide actionable business opportunities
Rapidly develop a deep understanding of Kratos products, technologies, and internal practices (frequent travel required)
Develop strategic plans and near-term actions for proliferation of Kratos products and technologies into SMC offices
Coordinate capabilities briefings, demonstrations, customer meetings, tradeshow attendance for multiple business areas
Attend relevant industry conferences, trade shows, workshops, forums, etc.

to form strategic business relationships for the above growth markets
Track and ensure follow-through on opportunities and ensure potential customer satisfaction
Advise Kratos business segments of significant opportunities and generate sales leads
Complete and negotiate strategic sales transactions for Kratos offerings both directly to the government and through prime/sub and teaming relationships
Prepare and perform technical-oriented business development presentations demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably with customer systems engineers and program managers
Develop, implement, and update account plans for specific high-value customer organizations within SMC
Develop a deep understanding and positive relationship with specific high-value customer organizations within SMC to enable enhanced capture and win strategies for new strategic business

Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related experience, related technical degree highly preferred
10 or more years of related experience
Current TS/SCI eligibility with CI Polygraph
Preferred Skills:
Strong understanding of SATCOM and Satellite Ground Systems
Extensive network of business contacts in SMC and with supporting industry partners
10+ years of progressive experience in applying technology such as digital signal processing, networks, satellite communications, or ground systems.
Relevant, current industry experience and strategic technical insight to assist in penetrating target markets
Proven track record of business development, including proposal development for complex systems and giving product demonstrations
Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and systems architecture
Experience with the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO)
U.S.

Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Government Security Clearance is required.
