We are looking for a Business Affairs Manager to join us in NIKE’s Los Angeles Creative Studio to oversee our LA-based content production and provide overall marketing legal support to the Brand Marketing teams.

What will you work on

As a Business Affairs Manager within the Brand Marketing Legal team you will be responsible for supporting the Global Brand Marketing team in the creation and delivery of all types of marketing content and campaigns, concentrating on, but not limited to, our LA Studio-based content.

You will apply your industry knowledge and expertise to provide content clearance and licensing, and risk-based guidance related to third-party rights issues and other business and legal advertising concerns.

You will work with the Marketing teams in a fast-paced environment to help them achieve their desired outcomes!

You will be responsible for regular engagement with your business partners to ensure they are informed of risks, trainings and the process excellence to engage with the Business Affairs team, in addition to the following:

  • Secure usage permissions and approvals from brands, leagues, organizations and artists in a manner that protects Nike’s interests
  • Secure legal clearances, and coordinate the preparation of contracts and payments for commercial use of intellectual properties
  • Proficient with script review to identify potential red flags or licensing issues and coordinate risk assessments through partners and agencies
  • Properly connect with people across the Nike matrix to ensure all necessary partners are involved
  • Liaise with agencies and vendors and build strong working relationships with the agency Business Affairs contacts and vendor representatives
  • Stay current on legal issues associated with advertising (trademark, copyright, rights of privacy/publicity, licensing language, production, unions and product claims)

Who will you work with

You will report to the Sr.

Business Affairs Manager, Brand Marketing, and you will work closely with your colleagues in Business Affairs, Legal, Marketing as well as outside counsel.

On the daily, you will provide legal support to the Brand Marketing teams in LA and other locations, where you will encounter business partners with a variety of communication styles and needs.

People will appreciate your ability to be resourceful in the face of ambiguity and to find solutions.
