The LA Clippers are looking to hire a Basketball Facilities Manager who will work closely with members of the front office, coaching staff, health/performance staff, as well as the entire Basketball Operations department to manage and maintain the LA Clippers Training Center located in Playa Vista, CA (a.k.a.
The Honey Training Center).
The ideal candidate will have a background in facilities management, construction management, property management, civil engineering, or related field(s).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Manage facilities operations, maintenance, installation, repair, construction and renovation projects.
Coordinate with departments and outside contractors/vendors and provide cost and project bids as requested.
Oversee the annual facility operating budget for the LA Clippers Training Center.
Review and monitor expenses with the LA Clippers finance department.
Develop general and preventative maintenance protocols for the LA Clippers Training Center.
Inspect facility for necessary repairs and maintenance work as well as general housekeeping duties.
Serve as the primary contact for all events hosted at the LA Clippers Training Center.
The Basketball Facilities Manager will be tasked with scheduling all events with the General Manager or Director of Team Operations, coordinating arrangements with vendors, and serving as the on-site primary point of contact for all events held at the LA Clippers Training Center.
Coordinate and manage all construction projects at the LA Clippers Training Center.
Collect project bids, coordinate construction schedules, organize projects budgets with finance department, and collaborate with various Basketball Operations departments on project plans.
Organize and maintain all vendor contracts, building contracts and permits (fire, elevator, etc.) to ensure the facility is compliant with state and local laws.
Oversee access to the LA Clippers Training Center (finger scan/FOB) for players, coaches, and basketball staff with LA Clippers IT staff as well as manage and coordinate all players, staff, and guests parking at the Training Center and off-site parking locations.
Oversee external staff that provide services to the Training Center, such as Building Security, Landscaping, Gardening, and Housekeeping and Cleaning Services.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests; troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as well as keeping up to date with NBA & LA County COVID Compliance, to the extent necessary.
Meet regularly with Basketball Legal Coordinator and Associate Team Counsel to review California state, LA county & NBA rules and regulations related to operating the Training Center, to ensure all operations remain compliant.
Maintain day to day tasks including but not limited to making sure water dispensers are full, upkeep of the facility, soap dispensers are charged, floors are mopped, court is clean without scuff marks, etc.
Qualification Requirements
Must be able to work flexible hours (weekends and holidays) and on-call for after hours.
3+ years of related experience with facility management and/or maintenance.
Extensive experience and skill with Microsoft Office 365.
Effective organization and project management skills.
Must be punctual, responsible, and able to multi-task.
Communicate effectively in a dynamic environment.
Excellent ability to build rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
Strong organization skills with a robust attention to detail, particularly in regard to visual presentation of deliverables and presentations.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work and communicate with people from all departments and at all levels of the organization.
Proven respect for confidentiality.
Must maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
Experience in highly professional environments, including but not limited to NBA basketball operations.
Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, technical skills and safety requirements related to facilities management.
Ability to inspect and repair electrical & plumbing services is beneficial.
Familiarity with Southern California basketball gyms and other similar recreational facilities is helpful.
Must take pride in their work from the smallest task to the largest project.
