OR1, the technology and innovation arm of the KARL STORZ organization, is focused on delivering cutting edge visualization, communication and data management solutions in the surgical environment. The technologies that we offer help to optimize the perioperative workflow and create meaningful collaboration for clinicians.

Reporting to the Group Marketing Manager of OR1, the OR1 Associate Marketing Manager, Emerging Technologies will be responsible for the management of emerging partnership technologies within the KARL STORZ portfolio. These technologies are primarily emerging and disruptive solutions that are complementary to the KARL STORZ OR1 portfolio.

The OR1 Associate Marketing Manager, Emerging Markets will own the business strategy behind a portfolio of products and software services curated through 3 rd party partnerships. This will entail managing product launches, marketing collateral, implementation/service protocols, and product lifecycles.

This position will require collaboration between multiple departments within the KARL STORZ global organization including Sales, Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Regulatory and other specialty groups. Additionally, the role will require the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of customers to include surgeons, nurses, biomed, IT and administration.

Lastly the position will entail developing and executing strategies that encourage successful adoption and ongoing utilization of products and software services within the OR1 portfolio. This will include working within active Operating Rooms, providing implementation support, training, go-live support to surgeons and assessing performance of the product and the associated customer experience.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a portfolio of partnership technologies
  • Develop go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the sales and marketing teams
  • Develop launch material for product and new feature releases (training plans, marketing material, demos etc.)
  • Manage administrative tasks associated with product portfolio (part numbering, quoting tools, etc.)
  • Manage product life cycle strategy and notifications
  • Present to customer groups and/or KARL STORZ employees at customer sites or KARL STORZ facilities
  • Train and provide on-site application support during implementation and go-live of OR1 products as well as post-go live support on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain competitive information relative to product portfolio
  • Research market trends and current product performance to anticipate new customer requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum education level of a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of B2B experience, or 4 to 6 years of B2B sales or marketing experience specific to, medical device sales, medical device marketing, OR integration, or healthcare IT experience.
  • Selected candidate will travel as much as 40% domestic, after COVID restirctions are lifted.
  • Technical competency in video standards, video streaming, networking, and cloud based solutions. Special emphasis placed on how individual devices could be used to create integrated systems.
  • Understanding of the operating room workflow; its systems and subsystems used in everyday surgery is desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with special emphasis on the ability to communicate technical details to the layperson.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to negotiate internally with team members on customer strategy.
  • Ability to anticipate / handle multiple priorities and complex issues.
  • Maintains a high standard of ethics, professionalism and competency.
