Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Advanced Planner services multiple client segments and will be responsible for the development, design, delivery, and implementation of comprehensive financial plans as well as other wealth planning deliverables.

This position will primarily service the $1-8 million liquidity client segment with opportunities to serve the $8 million plus liquidity clients through collaboration with Advanced Planners at the Senior Vice President and Managing Director levels.

Responsibilities range from data collection, analysis, client recommendations and client plan delivery. 
 
What you’ll do as an Associate Director, Advanced Planner:
 
Primary Responsibilities include:

– Develop and deliver financial plans that includes:

– Compiling information, conducting research and assembling all applicable client data necessary to develop a solid, viable, meaningful financial plan; this process often involves direct contact with the client/client delegates and/or the need for investigative research using available online tools.

– Utilizing financial planning software to build financial models based on client data and information compiled.

– Independently analyzing data and perform quality control testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the analysis developed by the financial planning software.

– Taking the lead in developing, reviewing, and completing financial plans, client documentation and analysis.

– Providing eMoney software training and support in a “Player/Coach” role for Wealth Managers and others within First Republic.Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, accountants, and attorneys to ensure data, analysis and plans are accurate and complete.

– Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with First Republic Relationship Managers, First Republic Investment Management Wealth Advisors and Wealth Managers.

– Working independently on $1-8 million liquidity client cases.

– Preparing, developing, and deliveringh financial plans to clients and prospects.

– Actively engaging internal partners for new financial planning clients and leads.

– Communicating directly with clients regarding the development of their financial plan.

This may also include communicating with a client’s other advisors such as accountants and attorneys.

Secondary Responsibilities:

– Prepare appropriate engagement letters and welcome packages to be sent to clients.

– Prepare and/or develop various analytics and presentations for use internally or with clients.

– Collect data and accurately use the data in financial planning software such as eMoney.

– Manage and maintain confidential client information.

– Be aware of and track client engagements and the work in progress as well as the work needed to complete the client engagement.

– Maintain data needed to measure outcomes of the client engagements.

– Coordinate with Wealth Advisors, Relationship Managers and Wealth Management teams and internal resources on client engagements.

– Manage financial planning fee engagement invoicing.

– Participate or lead various special projects related to planning.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

The individual should demonstrate dynamic analytical and technical abilities, impeccable communication skills and strong attention to detail.

 
Additional requirements:

– Understand financial planning concepts, strategies, and solutions well enough to independently understand how and what to model in the financial planning software.

– Perform independent research as needed to gain a technical understanding of concepts and strategies candidates are not familiar with that would aid in their analysis.

– Have a strong interest in financial planning; experience with complicated planning a plus.

– Proficient with Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, eMoney and have a familiarity with or ability to be trained on WealthTec and NumberCruncher software.

– Strong understanding of or solid foundation in essential planning concepts (i.e., estates and trusts, insurance, stock options, taxes, cash flow planning).

– Demonstrate strong interest in financial planning
– experience with complicated planning a plus.

– Solid understanding of investments and financial markets.

– Familiarity with banking and wealth management products and services.

– Strong analytical and technical abilities.

– Willingness to be in a support role and handle administrative tasks.

– Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under high pressure.

– Strong communication and follow-up skills. 

– Sound judgment and reasoning abilities.

– A “high touch” client service approach.

– Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning.

– Intellectual curiosity.

– Tax background or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred.
