Davidson Benefits Planning, an Alera Group Company is seeking an Employee Benefits Consultant to join their team.

The Benefits Consultant is the primary client contact and is charged with providing timely and accurate forward-thinking analysis and advice, strategic planning, and coordinating internal and external resources to exceed client expectations.

The Benefits Consultant goal is to also develop and maintain an excellent relationship with DBP clients, while exhibiting the highest level of ethical standards and practices always.

Responsibilities The Benefits Consultant must have 7 years of experience in the employee benefits field, along with: Life and Health insurance licenseProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerpointWillingness to become proficient with industry software, web-based technology and agency management systemsThorough knowledge of medical, dental, life, disability, stoploss, voluntary products, wellness and alternative fundingWillingness to continually advance knowledge and understanding of the employee benefits industryKnowledge of industry trends and the ability to interpret the effect of carrier/product modificationsStrong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions (e.G.

phone calls)Capability of multi-tasking and maintaining accuracy and attention to detailStrong organizational skillsExperience delegating and following up with work assignmentsExcellent verbal and written communicationExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to interact, communicate and build solid relationships with various vendorsAbility to work in a team environment but exercise independent judgmentStrong decision-making skills and strategic planningAbility to think creatively and negotiate resolutionAbility to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to work flexible working hours that at times require evening and weekend workHighest ethical standards and practicesA positive and supportive attitude and friendly demeanorA passion for independent and team successQualifications The essential duties and responsibilities of a Benefits Consultant include, but are not limited, to the following: Responsible for managing client relationshipResponsibility for leading, directing and delegating internal and external resources (including DBP team) to anticipate and exceed client expectationsEnsure that all members of the assigned team are performing their appropriate functions so that the client is receiving the best service possible and that adherence to DBP standards and mission are maintainedIdentify and attempt to resolve any potential client problems that may ariseDevelop and coordinate accurate presentations for renewal businessFully understand, peer review and present to clients’ carrier claim, utilization and activity reports on a periodic basisWork with the client to set short and long-term strategic goals and planning to meet these goalsReview carrier contracts and SPDs to ensure they accurately reflect the client’s understanding of the agreementNegotiate renewals with carriersCoordinate evaluation of alternative funding arrangements for clients as appropriateCoordinate marketing efforts and marketing report as neededAnticipate the need, coordinate and lead educational meetings for client HR staffCoordinate and lead quarterly client meetings including beginning of the year planning meetingsAssist with client communication needsPeer annual benchmarking dataKeep current with industry regulations and compliance issues; communicate any impact and viable solutions to clientProvide regular interaction with vendors in responding to the needs of clients including feedback on renewal status, service issues, etc…Conduct employee enrollment, wellness and educational meetings as necessaryResolve or delegate as appropriate client issues, concerns, questionsBe available for any assistance client may requireAssist clients relative to compliance issues including HIPAA, COBRA, HR and ERISA Equal Opportunity Employment We’re an equal opportunity employer.
