AIG: Branch Manager, Aerospace

Gather, analyze and evaluate risk exposure through appropriate risk documentation.

Understand exposure and various business lines profitability.

Be flexible to changing risk appetites.Apply knowledge and understanding of: policy forms, endorsements, coverages, rating plans, underwriting guidelines and general market conditions in the selection and pricing of individual risks.Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification while maintaining high accuracy of information and adhering to company underwriting standards.Answer incoming calls from brokers and agents responding to inquiries on submissions, coverage and certificate requests.Conduct outbound calls and follow-up work to brokers and agents required to close out inquiries and all business transactions.Work within specific authority level to quote, accept, decline, modify and renew risks in accordance with accepted underwriting guidelines.

Work with management and senior management to seek higher underwriting authority when working outside personal authority levels.Have a thorough understanding of the company issued underwriting manual along with all systems necessary to forecast, track and delegate accounts in a team setting.Be able to provide monthly and quarterly budget updates.Manage individual and team annual travel and entertainment budget and expenses.Make adjustments to policy information based upon prescribed authority for various lines of business.Work in unison with other departments, business development and account managers to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.Provide guidance to other departments regarding various underwriting information when needed to effectively cross sell opportunities.Effectively communicate underwriting appetite to brokers and agents.Reinforce the ease of doing business with AIG by meeting or exceeding expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Communicate openly and in a timely fashion.Participate in the development of team goals and work diligently to achieve them.

Support all team decisions.Increase premium to AIG by effectively cross-selling other lines of business.Conduct continuous profit and growth analysis for assigned business lines and territory.

Monitor premium retention with the use of electronic reporting tools.Conduct broker and agent visits as required.Train, mentor and assist underwriters and staff for positive growth and team cohesiveness.

May be viewed as line specialist for one or more lines of business.Manage relationships with all brokers, agents and producers in the designated territory by visiting or delegating visits as needed throughout the year.

Travel is required approximately 30% of the time.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.

5-7 years of underwriting experience preferredDemonstrate proficiency in desktop tools, including underwriting and email systems.Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.Must have knowledge in more than one area of focus of the following: Major Airlines, Major/Small/Local airports, light wing aircraft, aviation schools, aviation mechanics, agricultural aviation Demonstrated ability to adapt to change as the company moves forward in its strategic vision.
