Position Summary: Respiratory Care Practitioner Specialist II is under direct supervision, serves as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, conducts patient assessments, assists with the development of the plan of care, provides and evaluates general, basic patient care with assistance to an assigned group of patients according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs.

Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care.

Ensure appropriate operations of specialized equipment through the continuous monitoring of the patient condition and all related equipment.

Based on their findings, the RCP specialist is expected to assess, implement and evaluate interventions within ordered parameters.

RCP specialist will maintain an in depth knowledge of the relationship between the patient and the environment.

Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience Emergency Transport: 3 years’ experience as an RCP in a tertiary NICU/PICU/CTICU/Trauma ED.

Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures.

Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Arterial Blood Gases/Capillary Blood Gases (ABG/CBG) Certification.

Intubations and/or I.V.

Insertion Certification.

Education/Licensure/Certification Emergency Transport: Graduate of an A.M.A.

approved two-year School of Respiratory Care.

Required certifications (current card):
BLS NRP ACLS PALS RRT-NPS
Current licensure as an RCP in CA with the ability to be licensed in the following states: Arizona Hawaii Nevada
Initial and annual training in Aviation Operations, Aircraft Operations, Aircraft safety and emergency procedures, Air medical resource management: Survival training, Flight Physiology, Human Factors, Critical Incident Stress Management.
Ability to pass initial and annual Agility Testing, must maintain weight below 225.
Must be able to tolerate noisy, cramped environments (helicopter, airport, ambulance), ability to lift 90# from floor to waist, able to sit, squat, stand, kneel for extended periods of time.

You must be willing to reside in the state of California, and have a primary work site in the state of California, to be considered for this position.
