The Fuel Delivery Bobtail Driver (Refined Fuel/Propane) is responsible for loading, transporting and delivering refined fuels and/ or propane to our residential and commercial (primary) customers using a bobtail truck (3,000-5,000 gallon capacity). Our Fuel Delivery Bobtail Drivers are committed to Service, Efficiency and Safety. This position requires a Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements. If hired, this position qualifies for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.This position will support our Pico Propane and Fuels location in Carlsbad, NM.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Inspects vehicle and notifies supervisor of needed equipment, supplies, or routine maintenance.Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles drivenEstablishes and maintains effective customer relations by meeting or exceeding customer requirements to contribute to a positive public relations imageUnder supervision, handles and maintains flow of materials and products under safety guidelinesPlans and accomplishes a complete range of operational assignments and tasks that are varied and moderately complex to complex related to gauge tank volumes and testing product quality and specifications of bulk petroleum productsEnsures compliance with all government regulations and company policies and procedures by operating all vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to maintain the ongoing transport of petroleum productsMaintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safetyMust have the ability to perform pre and post trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materialsFollows and meets time and delivery requirements by adhering to the pick-up and delivery schedule to contribute to operational effectivenessPerforms all other duties as assignedSkills/Abilities:Ability to effectively and efficiently use navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical mapsAbility to maintain accurate logs and recordsAbility to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervisionKnowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety RegulationsAbility to be trained to deliver propane and obtain the NM LP-3S propane certification within six (6) months of employmentEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent requiredClass A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements requiredMust meet all DOT requirementsAbility to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 2 years3+ years tractor and trailer experience in propane and/or fuel distribution business1+ years tanker experience within the last 5 yearsPhysical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shiftGood hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and armsMust be able to speak and hearPosition is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company providerMust pass pre-employment screeningPosition may require working evening hours and weekends as neededWork is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. airborne particlesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is expected to be performed.
