Essential Functions: 1. Transports residents in a safe manner to their scheduled time and destination, follows the transportation schedule, adjustment may be made 2. Must follow state traffic laws when transporting residents 3. Maintains and keeps the vehicles in good working condition, communicates and coordinates with the auto body shop for repairs 4. Cleans the interior and exterior of the vehicles 5. Completes all required daily reports 6. Schedules and takes residents on outings for both facilities 7. Assists residents with packages or belongings that are taken aboard the vehicles 8. Participates in all required orientations and staff trainings 9. Interacts with all staff and residents in the spirit of St. John of God 10. Knows and implements the Mission and Values of St. John of God Retirement & Care Center 11. Be present, systematic, and responsible in referring any inquiry or problem regarding a family member, resident or visitor to the appropriate staff person 12. Knows and uses accurate information, location and function of various departments, and names of appropriate supervisory personnel Additional Responsibilities & Duties: 1. Coordinates, conducts and oversees daily activities as posted and planned 2. Responsible for information given and received at Activity and Resident Council and other meetings, and documentation as required 3. Plans and coordinates special events as scheduled with the approval from the Supervisor 4. Provides clerical support to the Supervisor as assigned 5. Assists other Activities personnel as needed or requested 6. Attends staff meetings and training sessions, conducts trainings and in-services as needed 7. Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with other coworkers, residents, and family members 8. Supervises and trains entry level activity staff and volunteers assigned to the unit 9. Develops and creates Activity program calendar each month consisting of seasonal programs and new programs 10. Oversees Activity program ensuring quality customer service of staff and volunteers 11. Creates forms and flyers for recreational services as needed 12. Participates in the planning of all major ALF programs or campus events 13. Organizes the set-up and clean-up of recreational activities 14. Works with Alzheimer’s and Dementia residents 15. Leads and creates activities, i.e. Yoga, Laughing Yoga, stretch class, aqua aerobics, etc. 16. Creates and maintains transportation month reports 17. Leads and facilitates special events 18. Maintains and orders supplies for Activities, if directed by the Supervisor 19. Generates all daily activity schedules 20. Generates all transportation sign-up sheets 21. Responsible for overseeing activities and ensuring programs are carried out according to calendar 22. Responsible for making sure that activity supplies are available, equipment are in working condition and supplies and equipment are kept clean and organized 23. Responsible for overall direction and maintaining of bulletin boards 24. Responsible for ensuring monthly calendars, flyers and other notices are updated and posted in assigned areas 25. Responsible for daily rounds in designated area to ensure a clean and safe environment 26. Must ensure Activity areas and offices are kept neat and organized 27. Assists during residents’ mealtimes as needed 28. Performs other duties as assigned 29. Follows organizational and departmental procedures Information Management: -Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with confidentiality and security Risk Management: – Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations Physical Demands & Working Conditions: 1. Occasionally lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 35lbs 2. Support the weight of a resident (90-200lbs with assistance), assisted for short movements and help 3.Reaching above/below shoulder level for supplies and assistance with residents 4. Frequently pushing/pulling/grasping/handling/fingering/twisting/bending/squatting required for activities 5. Occasional climbing and balancing required for decorating and other activity events 6. During an 8-hour work day, employee is required to walk and stand on feet part of the day and sit for an extended period of time when driving 7. Must follow dress code policy 8. Must follow all safety measures and procedures Required Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent 2. Demonstrated skills in written and spoken English 3. Clean driving record, must provide a DMV record 4. Class B License 5. At least 6 months of experience driving the elderly, or equivalent experience Additional Requirements: 1. Must keep all required certificates and/or licenses current 2. Strong sense of customer service 3. Ability to present self in a cheerful and outgoing manner that will motivate others to participate in activities 4.
