Job Description Summary Under the supervision of the Program Manager, Drivers are responsible for transporting meals, participants, good and services to and from sites, social supports and benefits related appointments. This includes transporting goods and services and/or clients between housing facilities, social service agencies, hospitals, clinics, potential housing units and program sites in addition to breaking down and storing donated goods and services. Participating in outreach activities. Essential Functions · Transport goods and services to organization sites. · Transport all schedule appointments, maintain records of mileage and destination of all client transports, maintain documentation related to gas card · Communicate and coordinate with program staff to schedule and map- out client transportation need · Transport client meals to various program sites · Transport Inter-office mail, transport materials/supplies between program sites · Maintain a record on the maintenance of the transport vehicle such as: tune-up, brakes, oil change, and washed, keep all proper up-dated documentation in the vehicle at all times · Assist with delivering, picking up and/or storing goods and services to organization sites. · Escort participants on and off of vehicles. · Uses no-touch infrared thermometers upon participants entering vehicles · Taking and keeping record of temperatures while using no touch infrared thermometers. · Assist with sanitation procedures: breaking down/building boxes, proper storage of goods and services, maintains clean atmosphere on sites ensuring bins/containers/cambros are clean and sanitary at all times. · Adhere to Division polices and confidentiality, and treat clients, co-workers and partners with respect and dignity. · Maintain appropriate boundaries; and adhere to HAL’s Code of Ethics and HAL’s Core Values. · Represent the Agency in a professional manner at meetings and community events. · Regular attendance required. Secondary Functions Perform any other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager and/ or Director. Maintain files/records on client services in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and other funding requirements for auditing purposes. Timely completion of required reports and documentation. Attend mandatory Agency and Division meetings and trainings. Minimum Qualifications – 3 years driving experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Submission of an H-6 printout from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Valid California Class C or Commercial Class B (or higher) Driver’s License. Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally. Proof of current automobile insurance required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as being a team member. CPR, Finger Printing, and First Aid and Food Handler Certification within the first thirty-days (30) of employment (along with HIV/AIDS training) in the first 3 months of employment. Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background clearance required. TB test required (Note: Results may not be more than (3) months prior to or (7) days after date of hire and renewed annually thereafter). Non-Essential Qualifications (optional) – Knowledge , Skills and Abilities None Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions) The Driver will work in an industrial setting and spend most of his or her day picking up and dropping off meals, goods and services to and from various sites. Ensure vehicles and primary site (yard) are clean and sanitized. Breaking down and storing goods and services. Disposal of trash. S/he may be exposed to aggressive, sometime noisy, loud and disruptive clients and must work in conjunction with other staff members; interface with courts, LA County Probation, Sheriff’s Department and Mental Health Departments and other community agencies. Evenings and weekends are required. There is some responsibility to work in noisy environments where adults are free to talk loud and expressive. PPE masks must be worn at all times. May work in sites that are under quarantine. Physical Requirements The Driver Assistant typically spends time driving, sitting, standing, bending, walking, typing, thinking, carrying (max. 50 lbs), listening, speaking. Mental Requirements The Driver Assistant must be able to handle any/all of the following: interruptions, changes in priorities/work schedules; be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
