Job purpose
The Site Survey Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of site surveys at prospective client sites on an as needed basis. Each successful site survey will document the existing condition for managing the waste and recycling program, as well as the proposed changes to improve the flow of waste material from a customer location. Opportunities for improved waste flow frequently include options such as increased landfill diversion, better on-site separation, replacement or supplemental equipment, and the inclusion of additional waste and recycling streams the prospective customer outsource separately.
Responsibilities include gathering all on-site operational details of the existing waste and recycling program to assist the Sales team in determining the correct program structure to propose to the potential customer. The successful Site Survey Specialist is a detail-oriented individual that enjoys the process of problem-solving complex waste and recycling programs. This position requires an individual who is flexible in their approach to meet deadlines provided by the Sales team. Anticipated overnight travel of 75% Monday through Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Document the following while conducting site surveys at prospective client sites:
- All equipment on current program, including equipment size, type, understructure, and content.
- Any operational or equipment issues observed while onsite.
- Current vendor(s) as well as any additional vendor(s) found to be operating onsite or in the local market.
- Measurements of service courts and docks as needed.
- Any obstructions, low height clearances, dock heights, or other exceptional circumstances which may impact operations or the overall waste & recycling program.
- Any issues or concerns with the current vendor(s) as communicated through client or via first-hand experience.
- Any upcoming site expansions, manufacturing changes, etc. the client is considering which may impact the flow of waste and recycling material.
- Captures detailed photos of all equipment, service courts/docks, and any obstructions that may impact daily operations.
- Makes specific recommendations and changes to improve safety, landfill diversion, and/or financial efficiency to waste and recycling programs tailored to each client’s needs.
- Join Sales team for calls and onsite meetings with prospective clients as needed.
- Work with the Sales team to identify enhancements to the survey process, including the survey form and Salesforce enhancements, which improve the overall quality of the site survey process.
- Completes and maintains reports as directed in a timely manner.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 – 5 years professional experience preferred.
- Previous experience in waste and recycling, the service industry, environmental health & safety, or property management is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels within an organization, both internally and externally.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and achieve goals.
- Understanding of the business and its processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – i.e., Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization and follow up skills – extremely detail oriented.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work long hours as needed, work alone without supervision, and meet deadlines.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements
The work is primarily performed at perspective client sites and from a home office or Keter office. The physical demands include frequent travel (air and auto), walking perspective client sites, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. An ability to work after normal business hours as needed is required.
