POSITION OVERVIEW
Field Data Surveyors (Field Data Specialist) gather commercial property information, including landscape mapping, architectural measurements, utility services, and other property information, translating real world commercial properties into accurate, interactive digital site plans.
Using cartography, Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping, photogrammetry, and surveying skills, our Field Data Specialists survey, measure, and gather data on every element of a commercial property inside and out, including parking areas, rooftops, HVAC units, landscape, utility meters, dumpsters, bathroom measurements, window heights, outlets, and more. You will create virtual tours and online site plans using laser measuring tools, 3D Cameras, aerial maps, and computers to survey, map, record, and report every aspect of a commercial property.
DAY-TO-DAY TASKS
Meeting performance expectations for quality (having few errors), communication (collaborating promptly and respectfully with team members and clients), and speed (moving through project items quickly)
Traveling to and from assigned sites (flying and/or driving)
Managing personal travel plans and agenda to meet project deadlines
Finding, measuring, surveying, mapping, and tracking every site detail of assigned commercial properties
Politely and professionally communicating and engaging with property managers, utility service providers, site security, members of the public, and internal team members
Regularly reporting on progress, responding to inquiries, or assisting fellow field data specialists
Attending video conference meetings, team calls, trainings, and discussion channels
Quickly and accurately gathering utility meter information (water, gas, electric), including calling local utility companies for assistance
Surveying and mapping landscape (square footage, tree lines, shrubbery, pathways, etc.)
Redrawing spaces to scale and adding verified data using our proprietary software
Counting and mapping parking spaces and speed bumps
Recording fire and safety equipment information, including location of access panels
Photographing and noting details of all signage, spaces, and equipment data such as HVAC and dumpster size, location, manufacturer, model, serial, etc.
Surveying, mapping, measuring, and gathering data to record details such as wall lengths, window heights, restroom spaces, closets, doors, outlets, vents, and more
Using graphic design and digital cartography tools, mapping software, and surveyor tools such as laser distance meters (Distos), 3D cameras, measuring wheels, ladders, and hand tools
Drawing with an iPad or laptop using proprietary software
Safely climbing onto roofs and working outside in all types of weather, including hot, cold, wind, rain, snow, and ice
Completing assigned training timely and demonstrating proficiency with safety, customer service, communication, technical skills, and other proficiencies
Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned
DESIRED SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to travel extensively, away from home for up to 10-14 days at a time with 2-4 days between trips (not all trips are long, but you should be prepared to assume many will be)
Reliable vehicle that can carry a 17-foot extension ladder and drive long distances as needed
Ability to distinguish colors such as red, green, and brown electrical wires
Strong iPad and computer skills. Can demonstrate above average knowledge using tablets and stylus pens, can download and update apps without help, connect to WiFi and Bluetooth, and use smartphone navigation and messaging
At least 1 year of experience with Photoshop, graphic design, or photo editing
At least 2 years of experience with landscaping or general property maintenance
At least 3 years of experience regularly using MS Excel and Outlook
Maintaining a professional appearance, even after working outside for long hours
Able to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance
Not squeamish about bugs or other critters found near commercial retail properties
Excellent organizational, time management skills, self-discipline, and self-motivation
Experience with mapping, surveying, floorplans, site plans, or blueprints
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Base Salary: $28 per hour
Performance Based bonus potential

Manual dexterity and visual acuity for intensive computer tasks (such as typing, using common software, viewing reports, dashboards, and websites, as well as handling computer peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard)
Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. without assistance (such as to move boxes of filed paperwork, copy machine paper, and demonstration equipment, such as 3D Cameras, mounts, and demo tables)
