Swim Instructor
Duties: Responsible for teaching swimming lessons to all ages (instruct & monitor); Responsible for lifeguarding during swim classes, public (recreational) swim, and occasionally during private rentals. Implement YMCA practices that ensures the safety and quality of all swimming lessons, assuring program quality by assisting in evaluating all participants; Must be able to make quick decisions and be assertive in enforcing rules & regulations. Ability to maintain level of physical and mental readiness; ability to communicate verbally to large and small groups of members effectively
Qualifications: Minimum age-16. Ability to maintain level of physical and mental readiness, must demonstrate water safety skills in accordance with YMCA standards at all times. Previous experience teaching swimming and/or lifeguarding recommended, but not required. Strong interpersonal skills and expirence working with youth recommended. Must pass criminal background clearance, drug test, health screening, TB test.
Certifications: Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers & First Aid (or equivalent) OR YMCA Swim Instructor OR Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI); Must have certifications completed by June 2022. Lifeguard & CPR Certification classes are available through the Anaheim Family YMCA
Hours: Part time, Non-exempt; hours may vary; Monday-Thursday: 9:00am-7:30pm; Saturdays & Sundays: 9:00am-5:00pm
Time frame: Seasonal/Summer Months (March-October); Some year-round positions available
Wage: $16.00-16.50 per hour. Depending on experience and certifications.
