CalWest client school in the Greater Los Angeles area seeks a Middle School Science Teacher to start in August 2024.
Responsibilities
- Teach seventh and eighth-grade science, incorporating engineering, project-based learning, and design thinking
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
- Plan for differentiated curricular progression to meet the needs of each individual learner, including understanding of modifications, accommodations, and enrichment as it applies to diverse learners
- Utilization of technology to keep attendance, keep a gradebook, to communicate with parents and students, as well as a teaching tool
- Plan a science-driven, week-long overnight trip
- Coordinate our school’s participation in the CA State Science Fair
Qualifications:
- Degree (BA or MA) from a college or university in education with a mathematics, science, or engineering endorsement or a degree (BS or MS) in mathematics, science, or engineering with a valid teaching credential
- Minimum of 3 years previous Middle School and/or High School teaching experience preferred
- Possess a strong background in middle school integrated science curriculum including but not limited to: Earth Science, application of the scientific method, analyzing data, and promoting inquiry based learning
- Provide standards-based, structured project based learning opportunities that interconnect STEM subjects
Salary
- Annual salary of $65,000 – $95,00. The specific salary from this wide range will be determined based on years of experience and level of education using our school’s criteria for salary bands.
