The Accelerated Schools are currently seeking a Fitness Instructor to join an exceptional team of educators who are in the process of building a world-class instructional program in a school that has served the youth of South Los Angeles since 2003.

Location: Set within an urban empowerment zone just south of Downtown Los Angeles, The Accelerated Schools are located at 4000 S.

Main Street in Los Angeles.

Requirements:
High School Diploma AA Degree or equivalent college units (preferred) Personal Trainer Certification and/or applicable training
 

Compensation:

Competitive compensation, based on education and experience

 

Work Schedule:

Monday
– Friday, 7:40am
– 12:40pm (25 hours / week) First Day of Work: August 2, 2021

End of School Year: June 8, 2022

 

Responsibilities & Duties:
Provides physical fitness instruction to high school students, incorporating multiple disciplines, which may include: weight lifting, cardiovascular training, athletic activities, dance, martial arts, etc.

Collaboratively plans with physical education teachers and other faculty members Incorporates a variety of strategies and resources to respond to student’s diverse needs and interests Engages students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and meaning-making Implements Positive Behavior Support strategies and Restorative Practices to develop a safe and nurturing classroom community Reinforces school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom Ensures the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and the use of nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required Communicates frequently with students’ families through multiple means, including (but not limited to) progress reports, conferences, family events, phone calls Engages in ongoing learning through regular professional development and coaching Completes other tasks as directed by school administrators
