Fieldwork Instructors are required to be fully familiar with the School of Education’s Mission/Goals, the CA Teaching Performance Expectations (TPE’s), and InTASC Standards for the teaching profession as part of the evaluation process of each candidate.Loyola Marymount, founded in 1911, is a comprehensive university in the mainstream of American Catholic higher education.

Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.Job Responsibilities:Classroom VisitsThe candidate is to submit an LMU lesson plan at least 24 hours before the scheduled observation.

The Fieldwork Instructor will use the lesson plan as a guide during the observation and will provide feedback.

The Fieldwork Instructor will observe the candidate actively teaching during the semester through video and face-to-face observations.

Observations will be documented with the LMU Observation Tool.

For Interns: minimum of six (6) separate lessons throughout the semester (Elementary-Language Arts/Reading, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science; Secondary-in the content specific area designated on the credential).

For Student Teachers: minimum of eight (8) separate lessons throughout the semester (Elementary-Language Arts/Reading, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science; Secondary-in the content specific area designated on the credential).

Fieldwork Instructors will notify the Fieldwork Coordinator if the candidate is struggling and/or not submitting deliverables.

The Fieldwork Instructor will provide rigorous and constructive feedback, which includes both areas of strength and areas for growth immediately after the observation or set up a face-to-face/phone meeting.

The Fieldwork Instructor will give the candidate a copy of the observation record.EvaluationFieldwork Instructors must complete candidate Formative and Summative Evaluations based on the CA TPEs and InTASC standards.CollaborationFieldwork Instructors are expected to communicate and collaborate regularly with the candidate, Employer Support Provider, and coursework instructor(s).The Fieldwork Instructor’s responsibility to Loyola Marymount University dictates that he/she assists the candidate in maintaining certain the criteria and the standards in the credential program are met.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum 5-10 years in successful classroom teaching experience.

Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex highly technical information; Highly development organizational and leadership skills; Demonstrated computer competency, knowledge of relevant systems and willingness to learn computer programs used in the supervision component of clinical fieldwork.Required Education:A California Teaching Credential is required.

Additionally, a valid California authorization to provide instruction to English Learners is required.
