Technical Sales Specialist

OverviewOverall responsibility for creating end user demand. This position will focus the majority of their time on Industrial and large Commercial End Users, electrical systems Consultants, electrical Engineers and electrical “Big E” Design-Build Contractors to grow Leviton brand awareness and acceptance. The Industrial Specialist I will focus on generating specifications that call out Leviton industrial-high voltage products as the basis of design on industrial and large commercial projects. This position shall coordinate and communicate Customer accounts, targets, activities and specifications with their local electrical Regional Sales Manager and their Teams. This position is responsible for prospecting and calling on designated Customers, using all medias available, to schedule meetings where Leviton products and solutions can be presented and discussed for use on Customer premises. This position will provide technical sales support, in their assigned region, to local sales Team members for key opportunities/accounts as needed. This is a technical sales position. Individuals at the Sales Rep II level with a highly technical background or technical capacity may follow this career path.Responsibilities Develop an annual sales plan in conjunction with corporate sales and budget goals Establish daily integrated communications with the electrical Regional Sales Manager and their Team(s) Develop trusting relationships with regional technical specifying community to include Consultants, Engineers, design-build Contractors and End Users in region of responsibility Setup, attend, conduct technical sales calls and product demonstrations on a weekly basis Where possible, establish Leviton as approved and preferred for use in specifications and construction documents; coordinate and provide specification support of Leviton products in project design Further develop the technical expertise necessary to specify and sell Leviton products within the Commercial and Industrial Business Unit Manage agent issues to include working with, and motivating agency personnel, if applicable Manage any/all specification opportunities, with local ED sales Team, through Channel toward a Win Provide service and support to Leviton customer’s pre, during, and post project completion in a timely, accurate manner Maintain field intelligence on competitor’s activities and new product developments. Work collaboratively with Inside and Outside Sales Reps within the Commercial and Industrial Business Unit on joint sales activity Formally report activities and accounts of the sales territory monthly to the Regional Sales Manager Serve as the Leviton point of contact on assigned accounts and projects Serve as a technical product expert for all Leviton products the specialist is responsible for Specialists will be required to manage a sales territory size from $2.5 million to $6 million CRM tool is used as part of daily tasks to update sales meetings with contacts and to update project opportunitiesQualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor’s Degree, technical degree strongly preferred 4 to 8+ years of experience selling Leviton high voltage products or comparable experience selling similar products 4 to 8+ years of experience selling high voltage plugs, receptacles, connectors, and switches High level of technical expertise, demonstrated by a technical degree and/or several years of proven experience in a highly technical industry 2 to 4 years in the construction industry, industrial premise build outs a plus Skills & Abilities Possess strong leadership, relationship-building, and relationship management skills Outstanding oral, written, and verbal communication/presentation skills as well as negotiation skills Focused on developing and driving specifications through-out a sales cycle in a Team environment High level of comfort in communicating with every level of an organization from top level executives to field personnel Can transition in and out of complex accounts during a sales cycle Knowledgeable with Day 1 construction, Day 2 support and MRO in an industrial/commercial facilities life cycle Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint Required to manage account sales of $3M up to $6M.Travel 75%Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
