Summary/Objective
Patient Service Representative is responsible for providing durable medical equipment to patients in the field either discharging from hospitals, or preoperatively setting them up with equipment. They must always present themselves in a professional manner with patients, doctors, nurses, office managers, physical therapists, and other professionals. They must provide high level of product knowledge and educate patients with the equipment they are receiving. The patient service representative will support the Sales Representative in a specific territory by providing field support. The primary responsibilities are to provide customer service for all patient fittings. They are responsible for managing their own inventory levels and communicating with internal operations regarding their day-to-day services.
Essential Functions
- Effectively maintains information about all customers/patients.
- Patient interaction and Customer Care to all parties they interact with.
- Delivers and retrieves orthopedic appliances including bracing, CPM, Cold Therapy, electrotherapy, soft goods, home therapy equipment etc.
- Answering phone calls in regard to patient service questions and inquiries
- Thorough knowledge of products and equipment; assisting with troubleshooting.
- Re-education of product knowledge
- Submit detail orientated paperwork timely and accurately within Empower.
- Clean, test, manage inventory and working equipment
- Responsibility to follow doctor protocols effectively. Respond to voicemails, phone, Empower events and e-mails promptly, at least 24-48 hours as a courtesy
- Collect payment from patients when needed/instructed to do so by the Scheduling Specialist
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
- must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds
- Ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a workday
- Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions
- Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility
- Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws

Requirements:
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Employees must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Travel
Travel to hospitals and clinics will be required for this position.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical background experience preferred
- Valid Drivers’ License
