Inside Sales Representative – Western Workflow

Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.Location/Division Specific InformationThis position is a remote home-based position and can be located anywhere in the United States as long as there is easy access to a major airport to accommodate travel, when necessary.How will you make an impact?This position is responsible for sales and related support activities for all Thermo Fisher Scientific Western Workflow products to specified academic, government, or industrial accounts in the assigned territory.

Primary responsibilities include sales coordination via telephone, email, and some travel.

Key internal partners for this role include the marketing, product management and R&D teams.What will you do?Achievement of assigned territory sales and profit goals within the expense budget plan by proactively calling on existing and potential new customers by telephone and email outreachWork closely with sales counterparts and Distribution reps to develop specific account growth strategies, account mapping and penetration; includes identifying and mitigating competitive barriersGenerate and qualify sales leads by building a strong pipeline, focused on protein extraction, western blotting, imaging and immunoprecipitationPerform complete western workflow demos of extraction, electrophoresis, transfer, immunoblotting, detection and analysis as needed.

Demonstrations are to be remotely performed, if possible.Maintain appropriate records and process demos, quotes, and sample requests per Company guidelinesGather, process, and disseminate competitive intelligence and market feedbackRefer customer complaints/product quality problems to the appropriate business functionsProvide forecasting and reporting as required on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basisParticipate in trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities as deemed necessaryDeliver technical seminars on western blot techniques and optimization; may provide after sales technical support and customer serviceHow will you get here?EducationBachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Biochemistry; advanced degree preferredExperienceMust have hands-on experience with western blotting and cell biology via prior work experience and educationPreferred lab, selling and/or customer contact experience in the life science research industry serving academic, industrial, hospital, government, biotech and biopharmaceutical accountsExperience with SFDC preferableExperience developing analytics tools for sales force effectivenessOutstanding relationship management and influence capabilitiesExperience working in a multinational company with demonstrated ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed management operating environmentKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesTSS is a highly technical position and requires in-depth knowledge of Western Blotting products and services to support both sales reps and distributionMust possess excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks in parallel and balance workload based on priority of assignmentsAbility to work effectively in a heavily matrixed and team environment, and possess a positive attitude and desire to succeedOrganized, detail oriented, and results drivenExhibit a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing business environmentMust be proficient in using MS office, and experience in using a contact information management systemMust be available to work various times during the workweek to accommodate multiple NA time zonesAbility to lift up to 50-100 lbs.
