Position: Back of House – Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, Stewards

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The line & prep cook is responsible for preparing and cooking all menu items.
Responsible for upholding the opening, set up and close of the applicable station. Also responsible for ensuring the ingredients are fresh, the work area is clean and the necessary equipment is readily available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, seasoning and storing food before use
  • Cooking menu items as ordered.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using application kitchen equipment
  • Serve food in proper portions onto dishes, ensuring proper plate appearance
  • Ensure food storage areas are clean
  • Prepare food at the appropriate temperature according to HACCP guidelines
  • Ensure quality of the food items, notifying chef if quality is not met
  • Baking desserts or breads, as needed.
  • Making sure items on the menu are available
  • Making special dishes for customers with food allergies
  • Other duties as requested by management

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Comply with all food safety and handling policies and procedures
  • Follow appropriate personal hygiene procedures
  • Communicate with the chef the need for assistance to ensure optimum guest/patron service
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must possess a knowledge of local and state cleanliness and safety rules and regulations

REQUIREMENTS:

  • One (1) year previous experience as a line cook
  • Experience in a fine dining atmosphere a plus
  • Possess the ability to cook in a variety of styles and techniques
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work flexible shifts

Education:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Minimum 1 year line cook experience

Skills: Must be enthusiastic, punctual, and dedicated to the job.

Physical:

Must be able to stand for long periods at a time
Must be able to use a variety of cooking utensils/tools
Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
Must be able to bend, stoop, and move about easily

Ability to withstand fluctuations in temperature within the work environment

Job Type: Part Time & Full-time

Salary: $18.50 per hour

Schedule Requirements:

  • Willing to be flexible with schedules as long as they do not interfere with our business needs.
