GASOLINA is a lively Spanish cafe, market & wine bar serving Chef Sandra Cordero’s seasonal breakfast, lunch, tinned fish, tapas & paella, alongside specialty coffees and all-natural wines from Spain & California, to stay or to go. Opened in 2015, this is the 1st restaurant from Chef Cordero. She is a James Beard Fellow & co-founder of Regarding Her, a national nonprofit supporting women in hospitality.
GASOLINA is hiring a Junior Sous Chef. We’re looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, & disciplined in implementing and maintaining processes & systems, with enthusiastic energy.
As the Junior Sous Chef, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the menu is executed with care and consistency, by bringing structure and accountability to daily operations.
Your responsibilities:

Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the recipes, portioning, cooking & serving standards of GASOLINA.
Check the line and prep, with tasting at the beginning & throughout each shift.
Enforce that deliveries are correct, high quality and timely.
Keep all kitchen equipment in good working order to ensure uninterrupted service and the health & safety of our team.
Demonstrate an attitude of teamwork by working collaboratively with peers to identify positive solutions to problems or issues. Be open and receptive to changing needs & priorities of your team.
Work to ensure continuous development in quality of guest experience, service, operational efficiency, employee retention & satisfaction.
Work collaboratively to achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility, sanitation & cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
Enforce breaks where required, and ensure compliance with company meal & beverage policies.
Fully document & formalize employee coaching, conversations, evaluations & discipline.
Manage and develop direct reports towards individual growth and quality standards of excellence.
Ensure consistent, thorough, and timely communication to subordinates, peers, managers, guests & vendors.
Ensure that all guests are receiving the highest level of service & hospitality.
Investigate & resolve service issues and guest complaints with a sense of urgency, poise, and good judgment.
Assist the Chef in hiring procedures, training, planning & directing work, and progressive coaching and counseling.
Fill in where needed to ensure guest experience is never compromised as a result of operational challenges, including, but not limited to, working a station, dishwashing, and general duties.
Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county & municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees & guests.
Your Requirements:
Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a service establishment of similar caliber.
Two (2) years of restaurant management experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and manage in high volume and high-stress environments.

Physical Requirements:
Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and stretch. Can frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, as well as work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours), moving intermittently.
This is a role that requires physical stamina: carrying food up and down stairs, and maintaining an energized presence on the line during multiple hours of service.
