Youth Mentor

Job Description Destinations to Recovery, a teen treatment program, is seeking a self-motivated Youth Mentor or Behavioral Health Technician to join our team in Woodland Hills, CA. As a Youth Mentor, you will be responsible for supervising client behavior, ensuring safety at all times, and serving as a positive role model to team members, residents, parents, and guests. Essential Duties and Requirements: Work collaboratively with the team to supervise client behavior and ensure safety at all times. Possess strong follow-up skills and administrative abilities with experience in project management and organization. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to provide clear, concise and informative directions to clients and accurate documentation before the end of each shift. Educate clients on the stage and point system as well as the disciplinary process. Effectively communicate with the treatment team when necessary. Be a positive role model for clients, demonstrating professional and caring behavior towards co-workers, clients, parents, and guests. Run weekly groups for clients, depending on license or level of clinical experience. Counselors may be expected to find alternative activities for clients when scheduled groups are cancelled, and should create group notes for all groups in the electronic medical record system. Familiarize oneself with the philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives of the company. Possess a strong ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with different due dates and timelines. Ability to work weekends and overnight shifts as needed. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred. Minimum of one-year experience working in a similar role in a residential treatment setting. Knowledge of crisis management, behavioral intervention, and de-escalation techniques. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently as necessary. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
