Apex Systems is seeking an energetic Wireless DesignStandards Engineer
– 3GPP RAN1RAN2 with experience in wireless system design and standardization, with a focus on the 3GPP NR radio access, both at the physical layer (RAN1) and protocol level (RAN2).
This position is considered an intermediate role for candidates with the requisite skills and a desire to become experts in wireless systems design and standardization.
In this role you will have the opportunity to be a member of the Standards Group for monitoring, tracking and contributing to 3GPP standards including RAN1RAN2SA1SA2, generate information that will guide the Standards Group to constructively participate and contribute to 3GPP standards activities in RAN and SA.
You will conduct research on Layer 123 technologies (including MAC, RLC, PDCP, etc) and network architecture for 5G and beyond standards.
You will conduct research on wireless Layer 123 and network architecture technologies for the standards, including theoretical analysis, innovative technical solution design, and simulation.
You will work closely with the other senior 4G5G teams in Lockheed Martin.
You will operate in collaboration with different business units within the company, including research projects and product groups.
You will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest wireless communications systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines.
Clearance Requirements This position requires a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Not needed prior to starting but ability to attain and maintain a DoD Clearance is required.
Position Location Requirements Position is required to sit on-site 3 days’ per week in one of the following locations Rockville, MD or Denver, CO or King of Prussia, PA 2 days’ per week will be remote Basic Qualifications Experience in wireless Layer 123 protocol design, simulation, and optimization for standards technical knowledge in wireless 3G, 4G andor 5G technologies, including 5G Architecture, 5G Core, Mobility, and Mobile Edge Computing.
Knowledge of the state-of-the-art technologies for wireless systems in industry and academia.
Possess a dynamic, innovative, and research-oriented perspective Embedded, Real-time Linux and C++ experience Desired Skills Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience as a delegate, rapporteur, or chair of standards bodies.
Ability to work independently Experience on higher layer algorithm, end to end network architecture, and system simulation in the wireless telecommunications industry Experience with NTN, Relay Experience in network deployment architecture and O-RAN experience.
