We are seeking a Chief Content Officer (CCO) to define the editorial vision, and implement a comprehensive content strategy, across all digital, audio, and video products from Company Inc. This role will oversee all marketing content initiatives across multiple platforms and channels to drive impact, engagement, audience growth, and partnerships.
Our ideal candidate is an executive with extensive experience in digital media, a proven track record of growing audiences via a portfolio of successfully launched digital media properties, and an expert in all things related to content, brand marketing, channel optimization, brand consistency, and analytics.
This role will report directly into our CEO or COO.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of content initiatives in all forms to drive new and current business
- Set editorial vision across all content production: digital, video, audio and future content growth areas
- Ensure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice for all channels of content; including editorial, social media, email, and video
- Oversee relationships and content strategy with key platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tik Tok
- Develop and oversee a functional content calendar and marketing programs for all Company brands
- Oversee, lead, and grow team of writers, editors, producers, and content strategists
- Set monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals with clear KPIs against all brands, channels, digital campaigns, and tactics
- Oversee the dashboards and analytics for content across all platforms and brands, and make recommendations based on those results
- Work with owners of particular content to revise and measure particular content and marketing goals
- Develop standards, systems, and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval, and content repurposing
- Oversee and expand key external relationships in Black culture; from record label CEOs, The White House, College presidents, to Hollywood Celebrities
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience as a respected leader in multiplatform content creation
- The ability to lead and inspire large teams of creative personnel and content creators to achieve company’s stated goals
- Skilled at both long-form and real-time (immediate) content creation, distribution strategies, and tactics
- The ability to intuitively understand what the audience needs to know, and how they want to consume it
- Project management skills to manage editorial schedules and deadlines within current and future content verticals
- Fluency in web analytics tools
- A healthy appreciation of GIFS and Black culture
