Wallace Lake Waterfront Lifeguard

Job Description The Lifeguard 2 monitors aquatic activities at Cleveland Metroparks Wallace Lake to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies.

This position enforces rules and regulations to prevent injuries and increases guest safety by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.

Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required.

All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Monitors activities in and near the water through patron surveillance within designated guarded swim areas.

Rescues distressed persons using rescue techniques and equipment.

Examines injured persons and administers first aid, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment.

Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.

Completes general facility cleaning duties.

Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.

Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public.

Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements Candidates must be certified or become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding r.17.

If not certified, training is available through Cleveland Metroparks in May 2022 To work at a waterfront location, candidates must pass a waterfront lifeguard training module, conducted in-house by Cleveland Metroparks Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old by first date of employment Candidates are subject to fingerprinting and a background check Employment Dates: Mid-May through August, including holidays and weekends.
