By pairing traditional lab tests with computer vision technology, we make it possible to test from the safety of home and get instant results, without having to send samples back to a lab. Our technology helps healthcare organizations provide better virtual care and improves access to diagnostics in low- and middle-income countries. Most recently, we’ve partnered with global medical technology company BD to power at-home testing for COVID-19.

About the job
As a VP of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for managing engineering projects end-to-end, oversee mobile and full-stack developers and their projects, work with our Quality and Regulatory team to ensure we’re operating within regulations, Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines and Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.

About You

  • You have significant experience as a hands-on technical contributor and are willing to get your hands dirty
  • You know how to participate in the technical details while still empowering your team to make decisions
  • You have a deep understanding of modern software development practices
  • You enjoy coming up with pragmatic solutions to concrete problems using first principles thinking
  • 4+ years of management experience; We’ll want to hear how your reports developed and grew under your leadership
  • Are excited to grow a team of ICs and future managers and engineering leads
  • You have a track record of coaching and mentoring engineering leaders on both technical and management tracks
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You should be able to explain your approach and the impact of your work to non-technical stakeholders in a way that is clear to them
  • You have the ability to attract talent and develop high-performing teams. Proven recruiting experience as a hiring manager. You have experience hiring and growing leaders and managers
  • You have the ability to balance business needs, a sense of urgency, and shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
  • You keep up with the industry trends and identify new tools to use to solve technical problems

What we’re looking for

  • Work experience as a director of engineering or in a similar senior-level position at an engineering department
  • Extensive experience with growing and managing a growing engineering team
  • Hands-on experience in mobile and/or full-stack development
  • Good understanding of autonomous teams with agile practices
  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mind
  • Excellent project management skills
  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant experience

Bonus points for

  • Previous startup experience
  • Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or related industries
