WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This colleague is responsible for supporting the Security Operation Center (SOC). This colleague will be responsible for observing, reporting and documenting physical security and security systems activities and issues that may impact or compromise the security of the Bank and its operations. This colleague may work unsupervised and will be responsible for the oversight of daily security operations and guidance to the contract security professionals. This colleague will be responsible for maintaining security at assigned facility. Controls access to buildings and restricted areas including, but not limited to, identifying individuals, operating controls for high security areas and programming access ID badges. Maintain daily activity report (DAR), administrate and monitor the security systems and critical infrastructure systems of the facility and the bank. Answer telephone calls, perform patrols and conduct routine facility risk assessments. Performs other duties as requested.

Make a meaningful difference as a member of City National’s Legal & Corporate Administration Group, the area of the bank that manages legal and corporate governance, community reinvestment, corporate premises and corporate security.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Supports maintenance of the weekly schedule for CNB Security Specialists and the SOC incorporating approved requests (e.g. call offs, vacation, LOA, etc.)
  • Supports the coordination of the contract security weekly schedule
  • Drafts and updates desktop procedures and training documentation under review and guidance of the Physical Security Supervisor
  • Serves as the 24/7 emergency contact for the bank and monitors and administrates all security systems of the bank
  • Supports the SOC by monitoring, analyzing, escalating, dispositioning and documenting of incidents. Systems include; alarms, access control, video surveillance, the fire and life safety systems
  • Provides operational and project support to the SOC team, Supervisor or Management
  • Controls and monitors access to bank facilities, restricted areas and high security areas, programs access ID badges, key distribution and remote access
  • Provides guidance, training and oversight of daily working arrangements for contract security professionals
  • Provides training to security specialist colleagues for their position including new tasks
  • Enforces bank policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Manages a high volume of calls and e-mails for the Corporate Security and as the role in SOC providing assistance and processing requests
  • Serves as the Premises Service Center (PSC) after business hours
  • Receives and responds to emergency and non-emergency calls from colleagues, non-colleagues, contractor vendors, law enforcement, the alarm system and crisis alert notifications
  • Maintains detailed documentation in designated applications and forms (e.g. DARs, Incident Reporting, Alarm Dispositioning, Entry Logs, Call Logs, Key Logs, Service Work Orders, Incident Tickets)
  • Maintains Situational Awareness monitoring and reporting of internal or external events (e.g. weather, civil unrest, active shooter) by monitoring news and open sources. The event may be scheduled or emergency incidents which potentially impact bank operations
  • Provides input to the contract security professionals’ work performance
  • Maintains security at assigned posts. Operates controls for its gates, doors, mantraps and bay doors
  • Responds to emergencies, unusual situations and takes appropriate actions at their assigned facility
  • Patrols buildings and grounds and reports any unusual activity which may compromise security, increase liability or present safety hazards including fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, etc.
  • Provides a high level of customer service to colleagues, clients, non-colleagues, contractors, vendors and visitors
  • Provides escorts to restricted areas or other locations
  • Serves as a resource for the contract security professionals, colleagues and others in the resolution of security and other issues including escalation and documentation
  • Follows Incident Response Escalations Procedures and notifies Corporate Security Management of issues outside the scope of the Incident Response Escalations
  • May be assigned additional duties as required

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years’ physical security experience required
  • Security Guard license from the state of California required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • More detailed knowledge regarding security systems and operations
  • Ability to analyze alarms, alerts and events at a more detailed and higher level
  • Demonstrate a greater competency in the leadership and training security specialist colleagues and security professionals
  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties working in a team and with little to no supervision
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in the oversight of security professionals
  • Ability to follow standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Ability to interact with all levels of colleagues, vendors, visitors and law enforcement
  • Maintain annual license renewals and certifications
  • Strong working knowledge of basic computer usage and Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with the monitoring and administration of alarm systems, access control systems, video surveillance systems, other security management systems, security platforms and other financial institutions systems (e.g. Salesforce, ServiceNow) preferred
  • Security Operation Center (SOC) experience is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Heighten Standards as it applies to their role
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong decision making skills; ability to analyze alarms, alerts and events responding, escalating and documenting
  • Ability to learn and retain detailed knowledge regarding security operations and security systems
  • Ability to multi-task the security systems administration and building security operations
  • Flexibility and ability to work all shifts (24/7 operations), willingness to assist the team with overtime as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
