Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the utilities department at the Destrehan Crush facility that also may produce its own power.
Essential Duties:•Coordinate with Production Operations to ensure all utilities (i.e. Boilers, Water Treatment System, Refrigeration, etc.) are operating efficiently to support production supply and quality demands.•Confer with Quality Control Department on matters of quality•Monitor daily operations reports on the basis of quality and operation and prepares a utlities operations report(s)•Oversee daily operations in areas of effective quality control procedures, satisfactory maintenance of equipment, safety procedures and good housekeeping practices•Work with maintenance personnel to identify and correct mechanical and production flow problems•Provide input to Operating and Capital budget proposals•Responsible for hiring, disciplining and training personnel and ensuring all employees are adequately trained•Ensure unit consumption targets and yield expectations are met while minimizing production downtime.•Maintain good communications between crews and other departments•Maintain good employee morale, ensuring employees are treated consistently and fairly•Ensure compliance with laws and regulations•Perform special tasks as required•Train personnel on efficiency, safety issues, productivity, quality control, environmental, and good manufacturing practices•Ensure Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Cleaning Schedules followed•Ensure Safety Checks are done- Fire Extinguisher, Glass, Solvent Safety Devices•Order supplies related utilities operations and maintenance, including but not limited to caustic, phosphoric acid, hexane, water treatment chemicals, etc.•Maintain regulatory compliance with the applicable government bodies regarding effluent quality and discharge into bodies of water (i.e. river).
Qualifications:•High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.•5 or more years of related work experience in utlities management with 2 or more being in a supervisory role.•Supervisory management experience in union environment preferred.•Industrial processing experience•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form•Ability to work in a team situation•Able to relate to operating people•Proficient computer skills & software knowledge, including Lotus notes, Word, Excel, and SAP
