USAA: Category management executive

Purpose of JobAccountable for the build and/or execution of the strategy supporting an individual or group of categories where spend, dependency, risk, etc.

is significant to CoSA or enterprise.

Drives value across all aspects of Strategic Category Management for all categories utilized by the Enterprise or within a CoSA.

A category is a product, service, or process offered or administered by USAA that strategically groups like, or similar products, services, and processes so 3rd party resources may be strategically negotiated by USAA.

Establish strategic vision and roadmap to enable the achievement of short and long-term business strategies and performance objectives through the use of contracted suppliers of goods and services.

Leverages industry knowledge, supplier management and third party expertise to partner with business leaders in the development of strategies and plans to supplement operational work groups in fulfilling the USAA mission for the membership in an ever increasing regulatory environment.

Oversees all contracted spend within a company, or for an entire CoSA or staff agency.

Engages with multiple stakeholders and senior executives to design and implement category management strategies and develop internal and supplier relationships which enable creations of annual goals, forecasted spend, savings expectations and performance objectives to drive value from the current and potential supplier base.

Leads a team of professionals in designing and completing sourcing and profitability improvement initiatives and defining key performance indicators to monitor and measure the delivery of agreed upon outcomes expected from third-party providers.

Job Requirements Tasks: Cultivates business relationships with company or staff agency executives to understand business strategy and optimal business outcomes.Provides strategic insight and industry intelligence regarding the complex utilization of third party providers of all categories to achieve business outcomes, strategic/operational objectives, financial returns, risk mitigation, mission critical priorities, etc.Anticipates changing business needs identifies opportunities and performs capacity, demand planning, and prioritization with the business & other key stakeholders.Establishes strategic vision & plan to enable the achievement of long-term business strategies and performance objectivesSets strategic vision, manages and is accountable for ensuring team is effectively conducting end-to-end sourcing process while meeting regulatory and compliance obligations and achieving long-term strategic business goals and performance objectives.Talent Champion with core competencies in attracting, empowering, developing and retaining distinctive talent, with technical, leadership and strategic sourcing skills in support of the Category Management vision while enabling P&C strategic goals and objectives in pursuit of the USAA mission.

Required: Bachelor’s degree required OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree10 or more years of progressive experience that may include client relationship management, strategy, planning, product / project management, consulting, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams or equivalent requiredExperience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals requiredStrong executive presence with demonstrated success building and growing relationships as well as leading teams focused on building relationships and delivering superior client serviceOutstanding communication and problem solving skills; decisive with the ability to make difficult decisions in a timely manner, and effective conflict resolution skills.High learning agility and ability to lead and influence change while delivering results in a complex and highly matrix environment.

Preferred: 8+ years in P&C spaceExperience in a large financial institution in Third Party Risk Management function, preferable in multiple parts of the TPRM lifecycle, i.e.

procurement, sourcing, program, directly managing, etc.Extensive experience in risk and compliance Experience with Third Party testing, through audit, QA/QC, compliance, risk, etc.Leadership experience in Reporting Data & Analytics in TPRM, with a strong ability to draw intelligence from raw data.

Experience with Tableau or similar systems.Extensive knowledge of procurement techniques and principals including: sourcing process, negotiations, contracting, supplier management, supplier diversity, industry/trend analysis, metrics and measurements and procurement tools.Robust Property & Casualty Category Management experience/expertiseDemonstrated ability to drive results through Agile team leadership, product ownership, process engineering or similar experiencesAbility to develop and execute Category strategies to obtain optimum Member Experience, Value, and ComplianceMaster’s DegreeProfessional Designations CPM, CPSM and/or CPCUCandidates are also evaluated against job related competencies that are aligned with performance expectations for this role.
