Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Director and the Radiology Supervisor, and under the general supervision of the Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging and the Radiologist.
Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician.
Maintains adequate records of procedures performed.
Acts professionally while on duty to serve as a role model for student technologists.
Responsibilities: -Perform ultrasound techniques and examinations, abdominal scans, obstetrics and gynecology scans, small part scans, retroperitoneal scans, carotid duplex and duplex venous scans, and assist in minor surgical/invasive procedures (ex.
Cyst aspiration, thoracentesis, amniocentesis and biopsies).
-Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
-Positions patients to optimize exam.
-Selects and operates equipment as directed.
-Provides immobilization devices as required.
-Teaches or educates the individual patient and/or patient family (depending on age of patient) what to expect about the patient’s examinations before the exams begin, and document data appropriately.
-Consults with patient and/or others to obtain a complete clinical history; gathers pertinent clinical data.
-Develops film in accordance with established procedures and fills automizer when needed.
-May transport patients to the department for procedures ordered by the attending physician.
-Uses proper sterile and aseptic techniques as required.
-Practices safe Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions as per signed document at evaluation time.
-Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
-Secures and returns supplies (film, linen, medical supplies, etc.).
-Maintains orderliness and cleanliness in the department, and sees that equipment is properly cared for and turned off at the end of the workday.
-Will accept working overtime to assure proper patient care.
-Assists in performing first aid as necessary.
-In the absence of the Radiology Supervisor and Diagnostic Imaging Director, may be designated as acting supervisor.
-Utilize the MRM computer system for scheduling, order entry, completing exams, and for retrieving reports.
-Utilizes the Med Net computer system for retrieving in-patient orders.
Qualifications: Graduation from an ultrasound program required.
ARRT, RDMS required.
Additional Info: Facility is around 80 beds.
Positon is full time, 4-10hr shifts(8am-6pm) with on call rotation(rotated between 3 people).
Person must be able to respond within 45 minutes for call.

Staff has 3 full time Ultrasound Tech(including this position) and 1 PRN.
The hospital offers an hourly rate depending on experience and the range for for the position is $25.00hr-$40.00hr and a full benefit package is offered.
